I'm going 12/26-1/3. I KNOW it's going to be crowded at times - like trying to get on the bus or the monorail after Wishes. I'd like to see how bad the bad will be.

I've heard the bag checks mid day are mind blowing. Is there also a line for no bags? How long is that?

I'm trying to justify paying twice the price to stay on the monorail that week vs taking the bus from AOA. Is the line for the boat or the monorail to the Polynesian just as bad as queing up for a bus?

Does anyone have pictures of the lines just to give me an idea of what I'm dealing with? Is there a crowd pics thread?

1. It's not going to be crowded "at times," it's going to be crowded all of the time. MK will open at 7:00am every day you're there. It will be crowded at opening and it will get more crowded as the days go on. Expect staged closures by 11:00am.

2. You can skip bag check if you don't have a bag.

3. I would stay at AOA. I would much rather take the buses from there than taking the buses from the monorail resorts.

4. Google is your friend: https://www.google.com/search?q=wal...tbm=isch&q=walt+disney+world+christmas+crowds

These were taken December 30th, 2013 in Tomorrowland and Frontierland in MK. This was, to us, the worst day crowd wise.

It is crowded. But, Disney is prepared for this. The transportation we had from our trip 12/23/14-1/1/15 was the BEST we have ever had. We stayed at CSR and never had to wait more than 15 min. for a bus (usually less) and we almost always had a seat. I can't even begin to describe the # of buses they had on hand when we left DHS after the New Year's Eve fireworks. We made it back to the resort in a half hour! Same was true for after Wishes. Transportation wise, we found the buses to be MORE efficient than in the off-season. I can't speak for the monorail.
The crowds are unlike anything I've ever seen. You really do need to be willing to get up early and/or stay out very late. We hit the MK at 7am a couple times and I have never seen MK so empty! The park was completely dead until 9 and we walked on ride after ride after ride! Frightening crowds start streaming in around 9:30 am though and just keep coming.

Here is Tomorrowland at 7:30am. No people!

Here is Tomorrowland after the 12:30 Christmas parade. Notice the CM holding the sign for the extended queue at Stitch!

Wow. All great points. I didn't think about how bad the bus is from the MK resorts to other parks. We are definitely going to do rope drop thru lunch and then get out!
