Crowd Outlook

If possible lets try not to heir personal grievances on this thread, it's all good if the thread goes off topic, but if you're looking for a place to just complain about the company there are plenty of other threads to do so

There may be many politically-informed reasons why someone might choose not to vacation with Disney and/or in Florida. Some might choose not to visit because of the company. Others might choose not to visit due to the overall political tenor of the state. But for others those same reasons might well be more of an incentive to go.

It is not clear to me that (a) any of those reasons dominate in one direction or the other or (b) they are at all significant compared to the macro trends in travel demand both domestic and international.

Very well said. And you are right those people aren't around anymore in these groups. My family is somewhere in the middle, not ready to drop it but also not happy with the way things have gone but have chosen to not see many recent movies/shows. I hear it around me all the time that Disney isn't the same, some have stopped it all some are like us and not sure where to go, but many of them use to go alot (we live 2.5 hours away) to now just going a couple days a year at most. It is a much larger crowd then some want to believe.
Meh... methinks it the opposite, it is a much smaller crowd than you want to believe that are staying away, and if so, they are easily being replaced by others who do want to be there.
Our family actively supported Disney through Park visits, cruises, the old DisneyStore. We stopped supporting anything Disney after our daughter completed the Disney college program. Her experiences and an obvious shift in cast member experiences- our animator friends who worked with Disney expressed the same change in their departments- this was 2018. Those shifts are playing out with horrific programming decisions- a cartoon that centers around a spawn of Satan? Just today, a partnership with a transgender to promote dresses for girls? The discussions on drops in attendance should look at the drops of Disboard memberships. When I was active here for 15 years- I knew many fellow Dis-ER’s, cruised with them- travelled with them- they are no longer here- sold their DVC investments, not just a few- many-many. I only popped in today to see if those left are influenced at all by the sickening trends Disney is pushing. Doesn’t seem so. Our family will never support Disney again- it’s too far gone- I used to know 20-30 families planning something to Disney each year- The past five years, that number has dropped to 1- and they say they won’t go back unless it changes back to family friendly- not agenda driven. So, 100+ visits in five years to one. Many of you don’t see that trend because you aren’t in the group offended by Disney politics. Just know you’re not likely to hear this perspective- because these dollars have fled these sites. I doubt Disney will grow shunning this chunk of its fan base. You’ll find us at the National Parks and abroad. Never Disney.

Said it once, will say it a 1000x... never will understand why some people find diversity so threatening....

Dont want to watch a show? then don't, but why should YOUR religious choices dictate what I can watch on TV or at the movies?

That's exactly my point, but stated much better.

There is all kinds of hand-wringing here about the Parks dying. The people with money on the line are not worried about that. At all.
I really dont think people here think the parks are dying, i think you're seeing people say attendance is down, big difference.

the parks arent going anywhere.

Thing is, from the current data provided by the company, it’s currently up overall for the domestic parks for the year vs last year. Disney World and Disneyland may have ebbs and flows to who gained vs who is losing, but it’s still up.

Negativity and pessimism are IMO what is primarily driving these boards, the demise of WDW is all over the place. Nickle and diming, unsustainability, complaining about how things were so much better years ago... ect. The thing that annoys me the most about it is the fact that people like riffing without any actual evidence, which spreads untruths that people just adopt blindly.

If the show that's being talked about is Little Demon, that was a good show but that's also my sense of humor and so I enjoyed it.

yeah ive heard you say that a few times. thats cool...you're entitled to an opinion just like everyone else is on a discussion board.

I do not have a problem with people having a difference in opinion, but when someone points out that the opinion you're posing is wrong, and clarify their position with facts it gets tiring to see people beat the same drum in face of that.

Essentially, opinions can be wrong, and unchecked wrong opinions can run rampant and change a narrative to something not based on any facts. That IMO is dangerous

I was also pointing out that there are plenty on these boards who believe the parks are in demise, and that is not an opinion.

It was a little bit of hyperbole, but there have been plenty of naysayers. These two threads are both still on the first page of the News/Rumors board, and have plenty of examples:

ok? they're allowed to be naysayers? its a discussion board.

look, people love disney here, if there's something they dont like and are upset, they're probably going to vent here.

its ok

you're not addressing your original point, which was that "I really dont think people here think the parks are dying, i think you're seeing people say attendance is down, big difference" all people are trying to do is illustrate that there are plenty who believe the parks are failing. you may not be one of them, but there are plenty

i think some people get really tired of arguing or reading arguments also. there's a lot of emotion when it comes to something people really like.

there doesnt have to be a winner or loser in a discussion board...sometimes its ok to scroll past a post.

I didn't say it wasn't okay.

I said: "There is all kinds of hand-wringing here about the Parks dying."
You responded: "I really dont think people here think the parks are dying"

So I pointed at a few places where people were doing all kinds of hand-wringing.

You can move the goal posts if you like, but that's what you are doing. You are also welcome to the last word. The floor is yours.

Are the parks dying? No of course not. Attendance is down due to a lot of things. I also believe they need to go back to what worked for the parks prior to Covid. First Genie+ and LL have to go. There has to be a simpler solution for line skips then booking return times. Second the Epcot festivals should be cut down to 1 or 2 a year. Make Epcot an updated version of what it originally was. Third is go back to investing in the parks and stop focusing solely on D+.
