Hello Dear DISers,

I want to ask for your opinion.

We are think about going to WDW for the Spring Break (March 17 - March 21).

Now, the TouringPLans.com says that the crowds will be at level 6. This is awesome, although I find it hard to believe that Spring Break will have average crowds.

"Easywdw.com" gives it a 7. And "Undercover Tourist" goes from 7 to a whooping 9.

Who, do you think, I should believe?

Your advice is always appreciated.

Thank you!

The crowds will be heavy and the parks will be busy. However, we went last year during Easter, were at rope drop and were able to do a lot of things in the first few hours. This was before Fp+ but you should still be able to complete a lot in the first few hours. Plus MK has an awesome rope drop show! MK closed around 11 because of too many people - meaning they didn't let anyone else in. I would strongly suggest on you MK days to be there as early as possible.

Your dates are a full month before Easter, so the crowds won't be super heavy. The heaviest crowds are the 2 weeks surrounding Easter.

Spring Break is a little more spread out this year with Easter being so late, but I would expect the week you mentioned to be at least a solid 7. The following week will likely be a 9 as all but 1 smaller county in Central Florida has their Spring Break March 22 through March 30.

We went that same week last year and crowds were heavy for sure. Definitely not a 6. :) I equated them with the summer crowds we've experienced. So I'd compare it to an 8, which is your typical summer crowd level. The upside is that the weather is awesome that time of year and make the crowds that much more tolerable.

We are going for the first time ever in March (20th-25th) and we are anticipating the crowds to be summer-like. We have no issues going over the summer and that is our preferred time, but since DD is attending a dance workshop in Orlando we figured why not make a spring break trip :thumbsup2

It looks like something is seriously wrong with touringplans.com estimates. On their free calendar they show crowds of 5 (five!) on March 29th - Saturday. I wish!
I love their Unofficial guides and have a total respect for those guys. But really? Undercover tourist shows crowds at level 7 and easywdw shows 8.

I think we should go with easywdw recommendations for our week March 17-21. They predict crowds at 7. I think this is doable with right planning. :)

For my last two trips, I've found the crowd estimates on easyWDW to be more accurate than TouringPlans.

We are going the last week of March and I have been using the crowd tracker from touring plans as well as looking at other calendars. I received an e-mail from touring plans downgrading all the crowd forecasts by two points for that week from their original estimate. EasyWDW has not made any changes to their predictions though I've also read that calendar tends to predict 'worst-case' and it is often a bit lower. It is what it is and regardless of the week during spring break, I think it's best to adopt 'rope drop' strategy if you want to get in a significant number of attractions.

I'm not sure how they give an overall #

on the day in question, MK is a 7, Epcot is a 5, the other 2 are a 6.

so either site is basically saying to go to Epcot and avoid MK. I notice the recommendations almost never differ between the sites, but certain people keep saying EasyWDW is more accurate. how is that quantified when they refuse to grade after the fact as touringplans does?

Honestly, I would follow the Easywdw prediction. Our spring break used to be that week and we thought the crowds were not bad at all (especially compared to the summer). Touring plans had our week rated a 9 and it was closer to a 6 or 7.

A couple of years ago, our school district changed our spring break to the last full week of March and that week is definitely busier than the third week of March.

He is a link to the unofficial Spring Break 2014 poll to give you an idea of the crowds:
