Crossroads

I think I know were cross roads is EXIT 27 I4 and we go to a TGI Friday there, also there is a supermarket. Various shops, you are not far from Downtown Disney there, and its shops Rainforest cafe etc.

At cross roads there is a jungle jims, pebbles, goodings, TGI fridays, pizzeria uno, goodings grocer, chevys tex mex, and I am sure a few more. Hope that was helpful.

My opinion I would not shop at goodings because of the prices but that is JMHO.

Jungle Jim's restaurant (popular with local weekend Dads) Hooters there was a donut and bagel shop and just up the road Dennys, McD's, Domino's and at the vista centre there's a Cici's pizza and a Chinese restaurant on Palm Parkway near Pizza Hut, Olive Garden have a look at www.orlandolakebuenavista.com/restaurants further up SR535 there's Steak'n Shake and another pizza place. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

don't know if you have a car but a couple of 100 yards down the road just under the I4 at the crossroads is Bahama Breeze we are just back and this was one of the best places we ate. :thumbsup2
also DTD is also near and there is some lovely restaurants there to

Just to clarify for you - only 1 post so far in this thread (isla bonita's) actually mentions restaurants in Crossroads - the rest are varying distances either side of it - if its Crossroads you want specifically. Pebbles is a good choice, I personally dont rate the TGiF's there much.

To the near but not Crossroads list I would add Romanos Macaroni Grill ( A bit more authentic Italian than Olive Garden) and an Orlando Ale House.

the only one we ate at was jungle jims and not to impressed with it, but there are loads of eating places around that area

Just a point ISLA mentiones exactly the same as mine TGI Fridays??????????? that is at cross roads and I said there was the supermarket there as well didnt remember the name??? So why do you think mine is incorrect?

Also at Crossroads is Red Lobster and Taco Bell (more fast foodie though), along with McD's. We like Red Lobster great seafood as well as chicken and meat dishes.

Claire ;)

The supermarket at Crossroads is called Gooding's and is open 24hour.

I didn't mentioned the ones directly on the crossroads because ...... having just returned yesterday from there I thought if clairelovesorlando has hired a car it would be beneficial to maybe eat slightly away as the crossroads was reallly really busy . and if not you can walk to DTD and are able to make reservsations there.

I never saw the Orlando Ale House though, is that at the Crossroads ?

No its in the "near bit". Turnright out of Crossroads, go down to the next junction and turn left - its on the corner opposite just after the petrol station.

shows you how well we were looking :rotfl: missed it :rotfl: saw one near the Florida Mall and thought that would be nice as we have never tried one. little did we know we had one on our doorstep

There are plenty of places in walking distance also if you are looking for groceries then there is a Winn Dixie just a bit further up 535,here's what I can remember: Tony Romas,American Diner,Macaroni grill,Olive garden,Dennys,Ihop,2 Chinese one of which is a buffet,Kobe,Red Lobster,an Indian,Cuban ,Chicago uno, sizzler,Jungle jims,Taco bells, pebbles, perkins,TGI,Waffle house.....plus much more within 5-10 mins driving distance

This area as a whole is an absolute goldmine for restaurants of all kinds and is well worth checking out. The Crossroads plaza itself is immediately opposite Hotel Boulevard to Downtown Disney and consists of a shopping centre either side of the big (24hr) Goodings supermarket (a bit on the expensive side - try the Winn-Dixie further up the road), plus the Jungle Jim's restaurant at one end, TGI Friday's at the other, with a new Buffalo Wild Wings Bar & Grill in the middle (where Barnie's Coffee used to be). Grouped around the plaza in various one-off locations are Chicago Uno Pizzeria & Grill, Red Lobster, Taco Bell, McDonald's, Chevy's, Paesano's Italian restaurant and Pebbles. There is also a Waffle House and Perkins restaurant on the right as you approach the Crossroads turnoff.

Head back out on to SR 535 (Apopka-Vineland Road), which is the main road going past Hotel Boulevard (until it intersects with Palm Parkway and Winter Garden-Vineland Rd, when 535 turns left) and there is even more choice. There is another plaza on the left further along Apopka-Vineland with the excellent Dragon Court buffet Chinese restaurant, and IHOP and a brand new Mexican bar & grill (haven't tried it yet!). On the right is a Black Angus steakhouse and an Olive Garden (old style), plus a Denny's. Turn left at the junction and you find the Orlando Ale House several people have mentioned (this is our 'local' and one of the best places to watch live sport!).

Turn right onto Palm Parkway and there is another big plaza, almost tucked away on the right hand side (and with one end facing on to I-4 so you can see the restaurants like the Crab House and Hooters here). There is a decent Indian restaurant (India Palace), a Kobe Japanese Steakhouse, another Angus Steakhouse (but not as good as the Black Angus variety), the Fortune Court (Chinese), a Pizza Hut and a Cuban restaurant (Havana Cafe, not known to us).

Continue over the junction on Apopka-Vineland and you find yet more (and some of the best, in our opinion). Here there is a Chili's, Shoney's, Macaroni Grill (one of our fave's) and Joe's Crab Shack (on the left) and, on the right (in another plaza), there is Giordano's (great pizza), Steak n Shake (the best milkshakes on the planet :teeth: ), a Sizzler and a Miami Subs.

All in all, it is a huge choice BUT don't count on getting in to any of them without a wait from 5.30-7.30pm each evening - this is BUSY territory!

And that's before you consider any of the restaurants in Hotel Boulevard itself and the great choice at the Hyatt Grand Cypress, just past the Orlando Ale House.......!! :teeth:

Just out of interest...

We won't have a car but am staying @ SSR - I don't suppose its much, but anyone any idea how much a taxi would cost to Crossroads?

Also is it easy to walk there from SSR - How far/long?

Don't know about a taxi as we have always had a car, assumming that SSR is the one across from the Marketplace ,I would guess an easy 1/2 hour walk maybe less-probably only a 10 minute ride in a taxi
HTh Sd :thumbsup2
