Crossing my fingers for AP rates this week!!

I had two CM's in the past week tell me they expected AP rates for my October trip to be out the first week of August. They both said to check back everyday or to look online for the announcement. I am really hopping they come out tomorrow. I know a lot of people here are anxiously waiting to hear something too.

I'm going October 16th - 25th. Who else is needing the AP discount for October?

Last year they came out the LAST week in August. I remember because I spent over 90 minutes on the phone changing our October trip room to general code rate, saved us a bundle. Guess those are a thing of the past. I'm glad I purchased my AP now. Good luck, check www.mousesavers.com in the morning.

I have last year's email message and the AP rates were released on August 25th last year.

different stories about what CMs expect to happen lately, but I think this year is not going by the grain. I hope that the AP rates do come out for Oct 5th forward, and I would be willing to change my resort to get a discount. We have AS Movies reserved, but at 99/night + tax. I have been putting off buying my MNSSHP tickets also. The reason is that I was thrilled to hear they decided to offer an AP discount for the tickets, then I find out it's only for dates through 10/5 and after 10/17-10/2? (or something like that). That just put a bad taste in my mouth, so I have so far been able to hold out and not feed the Disney Machine (so far).
I hope you guys are right. I will check the boards faithfully each morning. My Disney magic has been fading lately.

I have read alot about the new Best Rate program for a.p. holders.
Can you still book the a.p. rates the 'old way' once they are released?
If so, are the requirements still the same: do you now need an active a.p. (or voucher) right then just to book the rate, or do you only need to have the valid/activated a.p. available by the time when you check-in?
Any info on this would be most helpful.

Yes you can still apply the AP rate the "old way"
When you call to have the AP rate applied, you don't need to have your AP activated.
Just make sure that it's activated when you check in at your resort.

I am not holding my breath until the end of the month. It will be interesting to see how it all works out with this being the first batch of call in rates after the best rate was rolled out.

I am looking for December but isn't totally necessary. I am only paying $2/night more with my AAA rate then the best rate, it would save me $10 over the course of my vacation so it isn't essential that I get it.

We'll be there the same time. We're going Oct 15-22 to celebrate DS's 6th birthday on the 16th. I'm waiting for AP rates for our first and last night only since we'll be using DVC points for the remainder of our stay. I'm keeping my fingers crossed too. This is the last thing I need to take care of as I just finished getting all our ADR's booked!
