Crossbody bags?

I saw someone comment on another thread that they take a small crossbody bag to Universal and are able to keep it with them on all the rides a fanny pack/hip pack would be allowed on (not the three with metal detectors.). Can anyone verify that this worked for them as well? I bought a hip pack to wear, but am more comfortable with a crossbody. Thanks! Joy

I wore a cross body on some rides, most of them obviously not the 3 rides with metal detector.

But off the top of my head the ones that didn`t allow my cross body were The Mummy, Hagrids, Dr Doom although with Doom you just leave it in the space in the area of the seats on that ride and pick it up when you get off.

Forbidden Journey was ok, as long as it doesn`t interfere with the harness in any way and I can`t remember if I put it in a locker for Gringotts or not......brain fade moment here.

So, yes, there are some rides that won`t allow cross body bags, but the lockers aren`t that bad to be honest, if there`s a crowd, head to the back lockers, it`s usually quieter with less people.

That sounds great-I think I will take both, try the cross body and see how it goes. Thanks so much for the info, @schumigirl!

Just FYI, Vera Bradley makes a cross body mini backpack that converts to a fanny pack.
That is totally wild. I had to look that one up, because I couldn't even picture it. I believe I will probably have to order one of those at some point. Too late for this trip, though. Thanks for sharing!

I had a cross body purse that I was allowed to keep on Gringotts when we were there on 12/24. I don't know if it's a regular thing, or if the crowds were so large that they were trying to keep lockers free for people with non-cross body bags. I used lockers for everywhere else, because I'm so used to having to use a locker.

I’m very happy with it. If you don’t pack too much in it sit pretty flat. I’ve used it in backpack mode to go on walks and it makes a decent sized mini backpack. My teenager was horrified that it was also a fanny pack but was appeased when I said I would only wear it that way to be able to take it on rides. 😂

I have been told to keep my crossbody purse on Forbidden Journey. Haven’t tried anywhere else, really using the lockers is not a problem.

I have the Kipling Women’s Abanu Crossbody Bag. It converts to a 3 prong waist pack, so I was able to wear if on all of the rides that I go on (I don't do Hulk, Rip Ride, or Velocicoaster). I'm sure the Vera Bradley one is prettier, but this one did the trick,

I bought a waterproof fanny pack from SeaWorld. It was fantastic but my travelling parry wanted to disown me. Meanwhile my Sister's crossbody bag had to go in a locker several times. I think it really matters who is working and if you ask versus keep going through line with confidence.

Son had issues on Hagrids. As a side note, they wouldn’t let us wear our rain ponchos on Men in Black last time. We wore them in the queue. We had to sit on them in our seats on the ride vehicle.

They also have a mini sling backpack that converts to a fanny pack. I love mine.
