Crocs for guys?..Or something else

I got blisters last time we were at Disney and had to be creative on the "wet" rides to avoid sloshing around in wet shoes all day. I have seen several posts here raving about crocs. Well, I was into Dicks Sporting Goods today and looked at them. They were very..ummm..bright!.. and feminine looking. They seemed every bit as comfortable as people have suggested, but not really something that I would feel good about wearing around. Do they have anything that us guy's could wear and still feel like a guy? I like the whole "bring on the rides that get me wet" type shoe/sandal but impersonating Tinkerbell is not part of the plan. Could someone offer a good mens sandal or shoe that is as comfortable but lets me retain my manhood?
:cool2:

They seem to be harder to find but they do make black, navy & khaki ones. I can't quite convince DH to get any yet. We did get him some of the flip flops for Father's Day and he loves them but he's not ready for the regular ones yet. Good luck!!

My husband loves them and so does my grandson! You will see lots of guys wearing them.

My husband, who normally loathes any kind of sandal, LOVES his Crocs sandals. He has the men's Athens, I believe it's called, the flip-flop type sandal. Very, very comfy, and not feminine looking in the least. He has black ones, they also came in black w/ yellow, black w/ red, and a few other colors. They are very easy to find around here at least; if you can't find them at Dick's, try Dillard's or Parisian - they seem to always have quite a few. Or try their website, they have lots of different designs on there that I've never seen in stores, and that you might like - the Off-Road design is more like the original Crocs, but more manly/outdoorsy, or whatever. :thumbsup2

The Crocs flip flops feel phenomenal too! I live in mine. They come in more calmer colors!

My DH found some of the beach-type crocs in a dark blue at Dillard's Men. I also have one of my student staff who I noticed wearing Croc flip-flops yesterday...his were black & yellow. So, there's definately colors out there for men, too! :)

You could always order off their direct website, if you've tried them on and know what size you wear... http://www.crocs.com

I (male, 24) wear the beach style Crocs in brown... they really are as comfortable as everyone says, especially after wearing them a bit and getting them shaped to your foot. I wear mine almost every day! Trust me, they have lots of color options available, and when you have worn them a while, you won't care if someone does question your manhood, because your feet will feel great!

I have my lime-green XXL beachs at my feet right now. I bought them for our WDW trip, wore them with contrasting socks (blue, red, yellow) on some days and with my bare feet on others. Frankly, I wanted to embarrass the kids, but they told me it made me easier to find in a crowd (either because big fat pieces of lime green plastic are very visible, or because of all the people turning and staring). I guess they've lived with me long enough so that they don't embarrass easily.

I ordered my on-line, but don't remember where. There are plenty of sources: Zappo's, Dick's Sporting Goods, try typing "Crocs" into www.froogle.com.

My DH and DS's all wear them. In fact, DH bought the first pair in the family 1 1/2 years ago to wear in surgery. They wear beach and Athens in black, navy, and brown. All bought at Dick's Sporting Goods.

This was my EXACT predicament LOL. I think I'm gonna order them online or take a LOOOONG trip out to Dick's (40 minutes) because I know the local Modell's only carries women's. Do you think that if I ordered them today (Sunday), that I would get them in time for our trip next Tuesday? Also, I am a size 12.5. Would I get a 12 or 13? Thanks alot!

Well, it's different for everyone, but I think the men's may run a little big. My husband wears a 15 in every other shoe in the world, but wears a 13 in the Athens. (Of course I think that may be as big as they come. :rotfl: ) I would almost say it might be worth it to make the trip to try them on in person, so you don't have to worry that they won't fit, especially since you are leaving so soon.

If you just can't bring yourself to wear crocs...I suggest Keens...They are more expensive for sure..but I was a birki/crocs/havianas wearer...and since finding these I had to switch my favorite! With a little searcing on the web I found them for about 50 bucks...retail is closer to 90..they also have tons of em on ebay. Just my .02..but i will also be bringing my crocs to WDW Oh and the keens are ok for water too!

DH bought a pair of Crocs a few weeks ago called "Off Road". I think they are new, at least I have never seen them before. They are more manly looking than regular Crocs. They come in darker colors and have a more aggressive looking tread. Also they way they are shaped at the top looks more manly.

He bought his at Dick's Sporting Goods. Check out the Crocs website they have a picture of all the colors.

If you can't bring yourself to wear Crocs (which my very manly, welder, trap-shooter, car guy, ex-football player DH wears) Have you tried Tevas? I love my Teva Pretty Ruggeds. They go from land to water without a hitch. They were designed for river use, so they are sturdy & waterproof. I've had mine for nearly 10 years now. They've been everywhere from whitewater rafting to WDW & are still going strong.

My DS wears a size 12 shoe and I ordered him the XXL navy blue Beach Crocs. He loves them and wears them around here all the time but hasn't braved wearing them in public where he might run into someone he knows yet!

Has anyone ever seen the "scutes" in a store? My husband bought brown ones at a volleyball tournament from the Crocs tent. They're a new style and I want a pair for myself. I haven't seen them in any stores yet. Has anyone?

One vote here for crocs. DH and 2 DS wear them. We all will have them for our upcoming trip in September. I wore mine at all the parks last year and never got a blister. LOVE THEM. BIL wears them also.

I did notice the last time at Dick's Sporting Goods that the Mens Footwear section had it's own crocs display with all dark colors.

Good Luck :sunny:

Thanks for the replies. I went to the crocs website and saw the "off roads". They certainly look like the best "man friendly" shoe in the Crocs line..I also checked out the Keens. I really like the looks of the Keens but they are a bit pricey (for me). In terms of blister prevention and comfort, are the Keens just as good as the Croc's (I'm looking at the Newports)? Anyone else tried both?

We got some darker colored ones for my DH at Dillards. He wears them alot.

:thumbsup2 Just a thought.... I bought my dh a pair of khaki and black nike flip flops that are extremely comfortable and are made of a foamy type substance that would work well for the water rides :cloud9:
