Okay, so I've read about Crocs for ages now. I hear how they are really good shoes for people who do a lot of walking (Disney), prevents blisters and are really comfortable.

I am a woman who is NOT a shoe person. I am not one of them that needs 15 different black pair of shoes to go with whatever type of outfit I am wearing, I don't own sandels, flip-flops, boots, ankle boots, heels, etc. I own ONE pair of sneakers and that is all she wrote.

During the summer months, I even wear socks/sneakers because I cannot stand the thought of wearing a shoe/sandel/sneaker without a sock. My feet sweat and to me, it's just plain gross LOL.

I've been to Disney 3 times so far and will be heading back in 46 days. Two of those times, I got blisters so bad it was scary. So that's how I got to reading about these Crocs (possibly the ugliest shoes on the face of this earth) Even so, I decide to shell out the $30 and see what the hype is all about......

OH.............MY....................GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just can't get enough of these babies. I originally wanted a pair of beach Crocs in the Pearl color (but they didn't have my size) so I just bought a pair of black. Then my MIL bought me a pair of light blue for Mothers Day and I just went out last night and bought a pair in Celery. I now want a pair in every color that will match my outfit!!!!

I can finally wear a summer shoe with no socks and my feet don't sweat!!!!!!
I'm hoping I can also get by doing Disney with no blisters (I can handle one or two but nothing like what I went through) But am I totally doomed now that I am addicted to these things? LOL Another thing, I also heard that applying body-glide to your feet will also cut down on the blisters. Can I still do this with Crocs? Has anyone had any luck using both the shoes and body glide?

Thanks!!!!

Hi,

I used body glide with crocs, but found after one day that I didn't need to. I never got a single hint of a blister with crocs. I'm a fan, too! :thumbsup2

I love my crocs. However, in October DD and I both got blisters wearing them at Disney, and yes they were genuine crocs not imitation. Now granted we were at the parks for only one day and we did alot of walking even for Disney trying to get everything in so maybe that was asking too much out of any shoe. We have both got Disney Crocs for this trip, but I am a little nervous about wearing them.

I was just telling my daughter, that I might have to get crocs! I usually wear tennis shoes, and not a shoe person either. Let's say I'm "Full Figured" HA HA, so usually need the cushion on the shoe or my feet kill me. I am thinking of trying Crocs.

Nothing wrong with wearing them with a thin sock. Particularly if you can contrast the colors (lime green Crocs, bright yellow/red/blue sock).

It's fine to wear socks with Croc's, get the no show kind. My feet get pretty clammy in Croc's so I like to have the socks. I used the bodygllide on the bottom of my feet too and my little toe and no blisters. I bought some of the new Cleo's (croc's sandle) and they are quite comfortable, if they don't work out for me I will buy Disney Croc's at the resort store..

What is body glide? The only thing I can think of is KY type stuff.

I love my crocs but after a couple hours they hurt my feet. I took them to disney last year and got blisters on the ball of my foot. Hurt really bad. I'm now looking for something new for our next trip but I don't want to wear heavy sneakers. Any suggestions?

If you wear Crocs with socks (ha ha I sound like Dr. Seuss :goodvibes ), be sure to take the socks off if it rains (or change them immediately after). I only got blisters with Crocs last summer one day -- the day it rained and I was wearing the socks. I am certain it was the rubbing of the wet sock on my foot. PLUS, your feet will dry faster. I am thinking of buying the Croc sandals for the next trip. They are actually not totally ugly.

It sounds like maybe your crocs were too small :) According to the crocs site you should have space around the foot on all sides...all that should touch the shoe is the bottom of your foot. I wear a size 7-1/2 and I bought the M Beaches which are W 8-9, and they work perfectly. Not a hint of blister at all after 8 days of intense park walking. Have worn them for two 8 day trips now.

I bought some of the Nile sandals for our September trip and bought an 8. They are huge, even for crocs they fit way loose (I know I'd have to take them off on Soarin' or bean somebody!) So I ordered a pair of Nile sandals in a size 7, and wore them all day at home...they fit like "normal" shoes. Felt good. So I wore them shopping...and we are not talking marathon shopping here, just an hour or so at Target and to the grocery store. By the time I got home I had hot spots coming...they rubbed. I know it was caused by how they fit.

So...maybe you need a larger size? There is a size chart at http://www.crocs.com/sizing/sizingchart.pdf Download the sizing chart and print it out and see if maybe the size was the problem.

In the parks I wear my beaches with socks. I've gone with body glide on my feet and without, and either way, no blisters, no hotspots, but I kind like the way the body glide feels on my feet!

I must be the only person who has tried the beach crocs and doesn't like them. If I get an XL, they're way too tight. My toe forces the front of the shoe out, and there's absolutely no space between the back strap and my heel. The XXL are TOO big and I got blisters on my heel and on the top of my foot because the Crocs kept rubbing up against them.

They ARE comfortable though, so I got a pair of the Crocs flip flops. I got them on Monday or Tuesday and have been living in them since. :)

It comes in a package, like deodorant. You rub it on your skin and it helps skin surfaces slide over each other. Runners use it.

I think Crocs are just about the ugliest shoes I've ever seen. Even if I didn't have foot problems that required real shoes, I wouldn't wear them.

But they are selling them all over Disney and I saw a few women in them - and LOTS of kids. They are kind of cute on kids, though. :)

If you like them, wear them! Whatever floats your boat! Not trying to say others shouldn't. I just wouldn't.

My DD and I both love our crocs and we wear them almost all the time. However, I was so glad that we both took well broken in sneakers to WDW! After one day in our crocs our feet were really sore, just not enough supprot for all the walking at WDW (we both wore our crocs everyday on our six day trip to DL). We just wore our crocs around the resort and our sneakers for the remainder of our nine days at WDW. We still love our crocs, just not for miles and miles of walking.

I also, am not a "shoe person" and had real dilemma trying to decide what to wear in DW last summer. After reading so much about them (I'd never actually noticed them on anyone) I ordered a pair of the sandal-type directly from the Crocs website. They seemed fine, but I didn't really wear them until we got to Florida. The little bumps on the footbed hurt me SO BADLY that I had to leave Epcot the first day and find a drugstore to buy some insoles. I suppose socks would have worked too, but :o ... I did try the 'glide' stuff at the park but it made them way too slippery.

the reason this may be is because I saw a study saying that they are really better for people who do a lot of standing and not that helpful if you need them to walk all day. Not that they dont' work for some, just that they aren't the miracle shoe for walking as much as for standing.

I like Teva's.They have different styles. These shoes are made for walking hiking ect..and they are very comfortable. For me I just can't wear those crocs.I tried them on and they were not comfortable and they make my size ten foot look like a 12:eek: .I need to wear more of an open sandle.

Definetely size your Crocs appropriately, get a size bigger than you think. You don't want them snug to your feet.

If you order from an online place at least try some on locally to get a better feel of the size needed.

Also, anyone who doesn't wear their new shoes till they are down in Disney or wherever they plan on walking a lot is asking for trouble. Break your shoes in and break your feet into your new shoes ahead of time.

Also Moleskin is never a bad idea to have around just in case.

That being said, Crocs rule! I converted my whole family over to them this Disney trip and they all loved them. Get some with the different colors.

I LOVE Teva Dozer sandals. I have extremely high arches , thus most pressure is on the heel and the ball of the foot. These Teva's have the Shoc-Pad in the heel and are wonderful. I also have Crocs (caymen and cleo's) but they don't give me the extra support that the Teva's do.

I had the same type of experience as the OP. I always got blisters, even when I took careful care of my feet. Our summer vacations at Disney have not been less than 12 days.. last year it was 18 days.. and this year it's 21! So we did a lot of walking.
Last year (the 18 day vacation) was my first with crocs... same as OP.. OH MY GODNESS!! NO blisters. I was ready of course.. carrying my 1st aide kit with my moleskin, scissors, bglide... you name it. Well, I didn't need it. It almost brought tears to my eyes!. Our Christmas vacation (only 6 days) was the same... perfect feet:)

Like one poster had said, be careful of the sizing. It's so important. I read about crocs before buying them and understood that when you touch the ground with your foot.. your foot is supposed to be centered in the middle of the shoe. No surrounding shoe should be touching your foot. That is what prevents the blisters. If nothing is touching your foot, then there's no friction for blisters. I also am a 7.5 shoe.. and I buy the size 8-9 beach croc. It's makes my feet look BIG.. but they're pretty ugly anyway..lol. For the comfort of my feet.. and to avoid those horrible blisters, I do it. I'll live.
My dd thinks they're cute (what could she know, she's a kid?:confused3 :confused3 ), she has the pink/pearl Disney ones. She never got blisters to begin with.. but I feel better knowing she probably won't now.

I'm sure they don't work for all people. But it can't hurt to try them if you do have foot problems. It was a life saver for me! I was usually trying to fight off grumpiness by the end of our vacations because of the pain of my blisters. We went to Sea World and saw the Shamu show one year... my feet full of blisters. Shamu did his splash thing at the end (anyone seeing the show (the one before Believe) knows you get drenched like you were just hosed down), my blistered feet got soaked with salt water!!! I wanted to cry.. hey maybe I did.
Now more worries about that now! I love crocs. I don't care how ugly they are, and they can't get much uglier either! lol. Clown feet are IN!

I'm also absolutely NOT a shoe person, but just packed 4 different pairs of Crocs for our Disney trip. I've been wearing Crocs for 2 years now, and for several trips would take Crocs along with my walking shoes with Dr. Scholl's inserts. I don't have trouble with blisters, but get shin splints and definitely need arch support. I finally realized that my feet were happier in the Crocs, and this time, I'm not even packing the walking shoes!
