Crocs- are they hot and sticky w/o socks?

We went out to get crocs today in preparation for our trip next week-

saw the Beaches style at Stride Rite in our mall; $30 a pair. DS (3 yo) usually wears kids size 11 and the 10/11 fit him perfectly-- he LOVES them (he is a renaissance man! ha ha). DD (5 yo) wears a 12 1/2 in regular shoes and couldn't find a pair that fit -- she hated the look anyway (what a princess!)

later, DH went to Dicks to find adult sizes. He is usually VERY macho but got on the bus when he saw how light the shoes were and looked so comfortable! Dicks only had the Beaches style- still $30 a pair; I usually wear a 7 or 7 1/2 in ladies shoes and have rather wide feet. DH bought me a size 6/7 and brought them home for me to try- they are waaaayyy too big! Wondering if I should try to find the Caymans somewhere and try a size 7? Anyone else find that the Beaches style was just too big?

DH wears a size 13 shoe; Dick's only had Beaches up to the 12/13 and they were too small for him. Wondering if we should try the Caymans size 13.

Any suggestions would be appreciated- we are going to run by REI tomorrow and see if we can find any other models to try.

Thanks!

Melissa

I just started wearing mine without socks, since it's FINALLY getting warm enough here. The first day I wore them for an extended period of time, they did rub against the top of my foot, which was irritating. So, I switched back to socks that day. This week, I tried again and didn't have that problem at all. They were quite comfortable! So, I guess they just needed more breaking in time. They aren't sweaty at all.

DO NOT get the Niles style of Crocs - thats the open toed sandal style. I have a pair, wore them one day to MK and my feet were full of blisters and throbbing. They have no cushion or support whatsoever. I loved my Payless Airwalks, though...just like the traditional Crocs.

While you are breaking in your Crocs or if you are worried about blisters, try using Body Glide on your feet. It's like a solid deoderant stick in form, but it is used by hikers and runners to prevent chafing and blisters. Everyone in our group used Body Glide on our trip last year and we had NO blisters, no hot spots, nothing. Just google "Body Glide" and it should come up. We buy ours at a camping/outdoor supply store. I always use it now when I'm breaking in new shoes.

I'm thinking of adding a pair to my collection. However, I wonder how they REALLY feel walking around in the hot WDW sun.
Please give your experience...
I have worn mine for the past year in the South Florida heat and humidity and they have never felt hot and sticky. I do not wear socks with them unless it is really cold.
