Last year I wore Crocs while at WDW and a couple of times I skidded. I am just wondering...is this because they were worn. Have any of you had this problem? I really want to do Crocs again because my legs and feet felt great, but I really can't afford to be slipping around when it rains.

P.S. We go in the summer. This summer we skipped and did 10D at Montreal...had a great time, but we did alot of walking, I used different sneakers and my feet ached alot!

I have worn crocs all of our trips and never had any slipping issues. I'll be wearing them again next week in WDW.

I, too, have problems with slipping when I wear my crocs but I think it is because the tread on bottom has worn off some and no longer has the traction it once did.

I have slipped at WDW several times while wearing worn down crocs. The area that was the biggest issue was when leaving the bottom of the train ramp at the entrance to MK...the stone is extra slippery. Beware if you have older Crocs!

Yes, the more they've been worn, the less traction you have. I bought a style called Ace Boating that were made with wet conditions in mind. They have much better traction.

I also have slippage when my feet get wet (Splash/ Kali). My feet slip IN the shoes. It's dorky but I wear socks to prevent that issue and I always buy a new pair of Disney crocs when we get there, so the bottoms are fresh and clingy! :hippie:

Yes no thread= slipping on wet pavement. I found I'm ok except on wooden walkways like entering Frontierland or in pardise pier at CA adventure.

I love my Crocs as ugly as they are, yes even my Disney ones, but they are the most comfortable things to wear. Wet pavement especially on cement or stone can be a little tricky, almost landed on my derriere a few times, but the comfort level far out weighs the risk factor.

I only wear newer crocs at disney. I usually have trip-only crocs and once they have gone 2-3 times and the tread starts to wear, they become everyday crocs. Same thing applies to my crocs flip-flops. I save a pair or two just for trips then get them for the summer. As soon as the bumps start to wear down, no more disney. My favorite blue flops are flat now =( But, then I also have an excuse to get new crocs on my next trip. I'm hoping they still have the tan disney crocsband ones next month.

I think I'm pretty rough on my crocs though - or maybe it's cause I wear them everyday for 9 months of the year. I rarely get more than a year out of them after they retire from disney.

I totally slipped all the time in my Crocs when there was the slightest bit of water. They are comfortable but I've taken some dives so I have some Keen sandals for this upcoming trip.

I have slipped as mine have gotten worn down. Even with a proper tread, I still avoid some painted surfaces. I always seemed to slip in parking lots on the painted lines. I usually get a new pair and wear them a few times before I go.

Yes, it's because the bottom is worn down. I always buy brand new Crocs before I go to WDW to make sure this doesn't happen! :thumbsup2

bingo

jmho the heat on the concrete @ WDW tends to be really hard on crocs in the summer. I had a new pair last trip and the bottoms appeared to have semi-melted on our Epcot day.:confused3

That's what I figured....worn down equals me skidding my way around WDW! Not a pretty sight!

I think I will take the advice and buy a new pair for the trip and wear them a few times at home or on carpeting etc. It is worth the prep time. My legs were killing me in sneakers during our Montreal trip.

I also wear socks with them. I find it more comfortable. Crocs makes a no show sock that works well with them too.

I was thinking of getting one of the slip on flat types with the sling on the back...I wonder if that will provide the necessary shock absorption of my feet hitting the pavement...

Thanks all!

I'm going to take a look at those...thanks for the tip!

I had a new pair on my last trip and I didn't just slip, I totally did face-plant coming back into the hotel after the late hours at MK!!! I will never wear crocs at Disney again! We chuckle about it but I am grateful that it was just me and my daughter there when it happened and she was holding the goodies from the Main Street Bakery

Everyone is right on track with saying if your Crocs are slipping it is because they are old.

Crocs were invented to wear on boats so that when wet they grip, not slip. Most people do not know this.

So if your Crocs are slipping it is because they are too old. Get brand new ones for WDW. This is the best thing.

I too am like PP that said he/she only has "trip" Crocs and gets a new pair for WDW. Also I wear them alot so I get less than a year out of them.

Good luck and enjoy your trip!!

I love crocs and wear them pretty much exclusively at WDW. Be careful when the walkways are wet after it rains. A couple of years ago my husband and I were walking on the boardwalk at the Boardwalk Resort after a rain storm. All of a sudden I lost my footing and fell down and wasn't able to stand up because everytime I tried my feet would just slide out from under me. It was soooo embarassing and my husband finally got me up. Just make sure that they are not too worn down.
