How do I cook a large smoked ham with a bone in it in the crock pot? I've seen all kinds of recipes, some say tin foil, others say don't use it, and some make comments about it has to be a certain kind of ham- I'm confused! :confused3

Thanks a lot!! I usually use my crocpot for casseroles, soups, etc, I haven't used it much for just a meat.

I've never done a bone-in ham in the crock, but I often make a boneless ham that way. I don't use foil - just score it, add a few cloves, rub mustard on the top & cook on low the better part of the day. Sometimes I've added a can of crushed pineapple. I don't bother with the brown sugar so many people use because I'm diabetic, but it always tastes good.

As odd as it seems, I've never had a problem with the bottom of the ham getting overdone either. This crock gets so much hotter than my old one that I often get parts overdone. I'm guessing with the ham it's because it's not in that long & isn't a high fat food.
