Do any of you have crock pot recipes to share? We will be at Fort Wilderness from 07/07-07/17. We plan on eating at campground most every night.

My favorite recipes have come out of FIX-IT and FORGET-IT *5-ingredient and favorites*
I like quick and simple-no browning the meat kind a thing.
A family favorite is page 74 :thumbsup2

Italian Beef Au Jus
3-5 lbs. boneless beef roast
10-oz. pkg. dry au jus mix
1 pkg. dry italian salad dressing mix
14.5-oz can beef broth
half a soup can water

1) Place beef in slow cooker.
2) Combine remaining ingredients. Pour over roast.
3) Cover. Cook on Low 8 hours.
4) Slice meat and spoon onto hard rolls with straining spoon to make sandwiches.

Hope this help. I use my crock pot all the time. It is worth every penny.

here are 3!
pot roast:
1 4-5 pound pot roast
1 lg. can mushroom soup and package beefy onion soup mix, place roast in pot, pour ingredients over roast and put on low for all day cooking! since veggies would be mushs cooking all day we do mashed potatoes and frozen veggies after getting "home".

Chicken in wine sauce:
Chicken cooks faster so you would need to do this at lunch!
inject a whole bird with white wine and place rosemary on the skin and pat down. it will be ready at dinner cooked on low! Salad and rice is good with this

BBQ Pork
1 large boston butt (boneless)
i large container of BBQ ( your fav)
pour sauce over roast and cook on low all day! this tends to be a bit greesy we pull it out and pull it apart not using any of the juices from the pot, We have more sauce for pulled pork sandwiches and use various sides!

Enjoy!

Well, I see that u are already at the fort (Have fun!!), however if you check in w/ us do a search for recipes (maybe under camping recipes) in this forum. We did some of the recipes when we were there a couple of weeks ago, and DH asked why I hadn't already made them :) one of his favorites was the crockpot lasagna. BTW when school starts again, these will be added to my weekly meals. I mean easy cooking, and with a crockpot bag/liner super easy cleanup!

My favorite is Boston Butt.

Rub a Boston Butt with liquid smoke and your favorite dry rub seasoning. Place in the crockpot fat cap up with no liquid. Cook on low for about 12 hours, drain fat, remove fat cap, pull apart with 2 forks and serve with BBQ sauce.

There is a huge Crock Pot thread on the Budget Boards that I came across and someone was nice enough to index it. Here's the indexed post

Enjoy!

Here is one that I do:

2 lb beef roast
1 sliced onion
1 container of fresh sliced mushrooms
1 can/bottle of beer (use a stronger/darker beer for more flavor)
1 pkg of Lipton onion soup mix

Put everything in the crockpot and cook for about 8 hours. You can drain the fat and make a delicious gravy for potatoes when it is done.

Those liners are the best invention...ever!!!:cool1:

Our favorite and a family tradition is 12/13 bean soup with the standard pack of beans, a jalapnio pepper and you have to use the bone from a shoulder or butt ham with lots of meat left on it when butchering it. The real secret is the ham bone. With the ham we cut it up for ham steaks, breakfast ham and make sure we leave a lot of meat on the ham bone.

We take chicken boneless skinless chicken breasts and put in the CP with an envelope of taco or fajita seasoning (usually we just buy the kits and use the one out of the kit) 1 can of diced tomatoes or a small jar of salsa and add water if you need it. Sometimes I add a bag of frozen pepper blend (fajita veggies) to it. Let it simmer all day then shred the chicken. It makes a perfect filling for hard or soft tacos/fajitas. You can make it as spicy as you want depending on what sort of tomatoes or salsa you add to it.

I saw a book at Cracker Barrel this weekend titled "Road Trip Meals" or something like that. Looked interesting. It was all meals that could be done while traveling. SOme were crock pot meals and some were just cold meals.

I always use these 2 when we are camping - one is for Lasagna and one for meatloaf:

Slow Cooker Lasagna
Source: Taste of Home's Quick Cooking Magazine, Jan/Feb 2000

1 lb. ground beef
1 lg. onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can tomato sauce (29 oz.)
1 c. water
1 can tomato paste (6 oz.)
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. dried oregano
1 pkg. no-cook lasagna noodles (8 oz.)
4 c. shredded mozzarella cheese (16 oz.)
1½ c. small-curd cottage cheese (12 oz.)
½ c. grated Parmesan cheese

In a skillet, cook beef, onion and garlic over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Add the tomato
sauce, water, tomato paste, salt and oregano; mix well. Spread a fourth of the meat sauce in an ungreased
5-qt. slow cooker. Arrange a third of the noodles over sauce (break the noodles). Repeat layers twice.
Top with remaining meat sauce. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours or until noodles are tender.

Yield: 6-8 servings.

and
you can use your own meatloaf recipe and just follow the cooking directions if you want - the meatloaf is perfect when done and won't fall apart:

Crockpot Meatloaf

Ingredients:
1lb ground beef
1 whole egg
bread crumbs
1/4 tsp. dried leaf oregano
1/4 tsp. sweet basil
dash of garlic powder
salt and pepper to taste
1 tbsp. chopped parsley
ketchup
dash of Worcestershire sauce

I make the meatloaf before we leave and freeze it in a cool whip container.

Preparation:
First, make foil "handles." Fold a 20-inch long piece of foil in half lengthwise. Place in bottom of a slow cooker with both ends hanging over top edge of cooker. The foil strip will make it much easier to remove the meatloaf when it's done. I also put a piece of crumpled foil in the bottom to keep the meatloaf out of the fat.
Combine all meatloaf ingredients thoroughly. Brush top of meatloaf with ketchup. Place in slow after shaping loaf (I usally mold it in a coolwhip container as it gives the perfect shape you need for the crockpot)place on ring of aluminum foil to keep it out of the drippings. Cook 4 to 5 hours on high, or 8 to 10 hours on low.
Serves 4-5

My neighbor is a real crack pot , but a pretty fair cook,,
I'll see what kinda recipes I can get from her.

oh, wait,,,you said CROCK POT !

nevermind.

ths may be a silly question but we will be tent caming in October. Could we do this and leave it in our screen room and not have it disturbed? We plan on having a plug in cooler in our tent but worry about something cooking during the day.

A way to keep critters away, is put crock pot on a table and bungee a milk crate over top of it.
