My mother has croans disease and can't really eat many things, because of this we will be splitting many entrees or just ordering appretizers. We have PS at places like CRT (dinner) R&C for dinner, 50's Primetime, LLT, bomas. My children will order from the kids menu and I don't eat alot either. (Thin family!!)
Will places like the R&C not want us there at fireworks time, ordering children's dinners and appetizers? We have PS at 8:00 for 9:00 illumnations. I feel like we will be finished eating in a 1/2 hour and just hanging around, taking up a table.
We want to experience fun places to dine too!!, but just don't eat alot of food!!!
What do you think?? Stick to icky vendor hot dogs or split all our meals/appetizers at nice restaurants?
Thanks!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I don't think you'll have a problem with eating just like you said, nobody should give you a problem. The only problem with what you have said is eating at Rose and Crown. Your PS time is too late for you to get an outside table for Illuminations. Usually the time to make that PS is for 7:30, so you most likely will be seated inside. Not a problem to order what you said, but you won't be able to see Illuminations from inside the restaurant. Also, one thing, do you realize that Boma's is a buffet?? Since you all don't eat much, do you really want to pay that much money for you to eat so little?

I have crohn's disease too, and if I overeat or eat something too spicy I get VERY sick. The only place I have ever eaten at Disney that ever made me sick was at the Rainforest Cafe at DD. I don't know if your mother takes fiber supplements, but those along with lots of water really seem to help my digestive system, especially when traveling.
I don't think it is a problem in any of the restaurants to order just an appietizer, I've done it many times before. I would definately stay away from the greasy and fried foods, especially burgers and hot dogs, and go for more starches, chickens, and sandwiches. I hope this helps some!

Even though you won't get an outside table, I've read that you can still go outside and stand and watch Illuminations. Just be considerate of those who are seated.

I don't think it will be a problem ordering an appetizer as a meal or even splitting a meal. I have done both and it hasn't been a problem at any restaurant in Disney.

You may want to cancel the Boma's ressie, since each person pays, no matter what you eat. There is no sharing at a buffet. Othere restaurants where there weren't buffets had no problem with our sharing.

Liberty Tree Tavern in the Magic Kingdom (I assume LLT is a typo and you meant LTT) is also a buffet. Everyone 3 and older must pay for the meal, no matter how much or how little is eaten.

I can't eat large quantities of food at a single sitting either (diabetic) and have found the buffets not to be a good value for me.

For what is is worth, some of the counter service restaurants have choices other than the traditional burgers, hot dogs and fries. I've gotten chicken, various soups, fresh fruit and salads.

Enjoy your trip!

I too have digestive issues and in over 12 visits to WDW I have never had a problem except during a meal at Prime Time Cafe. My 11 year old son and I have dined many times at Bistro de Paris by the window and only had salads and appetizers and no one seemed to care. In May we ate at R & C for Illuminations and only had dessert and beverages. Go, relax, have fun. No one is going to push you out.

My brother is 25 and has had Crohn's Disease since he was 7. He has a very severe case of it. He was recently in ICU because it spread to his lungs, skin and eyes. He is only the second recorded case of this happening. We went to WDW in Dec. and were very upfront about his allergies and dietary limitations. We did not have any problems AT ALL. Don't be afraid to call a restaurant ahead of time either to discuss any special issues.
Order smaller meals and don't worry about it. Have a great time.

Am sending you a PM.

OK, I'm not because I guess I can't. So, I have a brother with Crohn's disease and thought it was limited to just the small intestine. Please PM me and give me some details as to your brother, if you would, as it is obviously of interest to us as well. I would never have thought that something like that could transfer to other organs. Thanks.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I agree, the buffets don't seem to be much of a value for my mother or for myself. I think I'll cancel the Boma PS. I'm glad everyone seems to be in agreement about ordering appetizers only! I'm sure this is what we will do.
For the two posters whom have brothers with Crohn's disease, I know my mother finds many web sites/chat rooms on the internet that have helpful information. There are also support groups at our area hospitals that are also helpful. PM me if you need the name of the internet site. And thanks again!
