CRO v. MS reservations

I have a Sun.-Fri. reservation in October that I think I want to extend for a couple of nights, but I don't want to use weekend points (I don't have many, and I need them for later). I think I undersand that I can get 25% off rack rates for cash through MS and link the reservations so that I probably wouldn't have to move. Is that right? I'm assuming that if a 40% AP discount comes out, that would only apply to reservations through CRO, and I can't link that reservation to the MS one. Is that right, too? I'm just trying to figure out whether I want to save an additional 15% or pay more and stay put. It's just me and I travel light, so moving doesn't really bother me.

I checked the rates for BCV and BC, and they're the same. I guess I thought a studio in the Villas would be more expensive than a standard room in the hotel :confused3

Your assumptions are the same. You won't have to move if it's all through MS and you link the reservations. You can't link through MS and you MIGHT have to move. The fly in the ointment could be if you have a room type that you can't get on cash such as a 2 Queen room or if they don't have the room type you need.

The DVC cash discount rooms have limited availability, so you need to take that into consideration.

I wonder if now that MS and CRO can see each others reservations if it will make it more likely to stay in the same room, I would think avoiding the complete cleaning in between would be a significant cost savings to DVC

I did an AP rate on an OKW 1 bedroom one time and I was able to stay in the same room. I did have to go through the check-in process again. As Dean said, you could have an issue if the same room type cannot be booked with the AP rate, you would have to move in that case.

That's wonderful! I just assumed if I did "mixed" reservations, I'd definitely be moving. I'll be in a studio, so there wouldn't be a room size issue, right?

Technically you're supposed to get a full cleaning each day of a CRO stay including day 1 so in theory this wouldn't really save them money. Reservations through MS are a different story and essentially a points reservation.

Funny when we were at WL the daily cleaning seemed to only take a few minutes but the rooms that were being changed over took a lot longer (changing sheets, checking that no personal items were left behind, and a much more complete scrub down.)

The only issue you may run into is dedicated vs lockoff. They would both have to be the same.

Moving within the resort may not be ALL that bad -- if you get some pixie dust, anyway!

We had a 1 BR on points for 8 nights at BCV, then were moving to a BCV studio on cash (made through CRO - no discount) for our last 2 nights. When I went down to the desk to check in ... we were upgraded to a dedicated 2 BR villa -- it was fabulous!

Of course, had those been points reservations I'm sure that would have never happened.
