Critique my attempt at a touring plan please

Please advise - we've never been to US or IOA before -going with hubby, 13 year old and 10 year old.


May 2nd - IOA – Open Until 7
2:00 – Arrive at Royal Pacific Hotel
3:00 – leave hotel and walk to IOA
3:00-4:00 – Cat in the Hat, High in the Sky, One Fish Two Fish
4:00-5:00 - Spiderman x 2, Hulk?, Fearfall
5:00 –7:00 – Ride Dragon Challenge and Flight of the Hioppogriff (X2 for both?) Shop in Zonko’s Joke Shop, Honeydukes Sweetshop, Dervish and Banges, Owl Post and Filch’s
7:30 – Jimmy Buffett
Water Taxi Home – early to bed

May 3rd - IOA – Open from 9-7
7:15 – Walk to IOA
8:00 – Early Entry – walk as fast as possible to Ollivander’s
8:00 – 9:30 – Ollivander’s plus Forbidden Journey (twice for FJ).
9:30-10:30 – Look around and sit down with a butterbeer at the 3 broomsticks to get the experience
10:30-11:30 – Poisidon’s Fury and Mystic Fountain
11:30-1:00 - Pterandodon Flyers , camp Jurassic , Jurassic Park River Adventure, Dudly Do-Right, Popeye, Me Ship
1:00-2:30 – back to hotel to put on dry clothes and eat by pool
3:00-4:00 – Spider Man (twice), Hulk
4:00 - 7:00 – Repeat anything the kids want to do again and maybe eat in Mythos? (do they do supper?)
7:00-8:30 – Eat if needed and look around city walk


May 4th -Universal Studios – Open from 9-6
8:15 – Take boat to Universal Studios
9:00 – Enter the park and right to rip ride rocket
9:00-10:00 – Rip Ride Rocket, Shrek, Despicable me (if a soft opening?)
10:00-11:00 – Mummy, Twister
11:00-11:30 – Disaster
11:30-12:30 –Curious George, Fievel’s Playground waterslide
12:30-2:30 – Back to pool and eat at hotel
2:30-3:30 - Animal Actors, ET
3:30-4:30 – Men in Black, Simpsons
4:30-5:30 – Horror Makeup Show, Terminator
Repeats til 6:00
6:00 – eat somewhere? Any recommendations?

You timeframes seem short to me. Remember that many things at Universal such as Disaster, Terminator, Poseidan's Fury, Animal Actors and Horror Make up, are not continual running rides but are really shows that start at certain times. I also think that Spiderman x2, Hulk and Doom in one hour is possible but might not happen. RRR, Shrek, Despicable Me in an hour is also tight.

Honestly, I wouldn't be creating a touring plan like this. The parks won't be busy. Just go and do the loops and ride what you want.

That's helpful. I'll just think of what we need to leave out if we can't do it all so I appreciate your advice

You will have absolutely no problems doing it all in three days in early May with unlimited express. You will have plenty of time to do things multiple times.

if you want to do the P. flyers, be there earlier than what you listed.
it usually has a long wait for such a short ride.

i would hit Jurassic park once out of parry hotter ville.
depending on your children, you might spend more time there than you have planned.


i agree with damo.
your time sequence will be thrown out the door once you are there.

the shows are only shown a few times on some days, others it can be more show times.

pick up the park map guide when you enter the parks.
be sure to see the dates on that guide.

the show times change on some days.

mythos usually closes around 3ish on weekdays.
hours can be extended at certain times.
they are not open for the typical dinner hour.

if one of the kids decides not to go on a ride, use the child swap.
don't skip the ride due to that.

i doubt you will encounter many long lines for the weekdays you are going.

you'll get more done than you think you can.

you are staying onsite and using the express lines.

Remember this isn't Disney so you don't have to plan everything out and down to the minute. And with unlimited Express access, you will be able to do pretty much whatever you want w/o a touring plan. You will be able to relax and enjoy a vacation instead of running around like a mad person trying to get everything done.
