Crisis or Crises?? 5th grade spelling homework

My 10 yr old brought home his spelling for the week and "crisis" is a word he spelled wrong. His spelling book said it should be "crises." I have never seen it spelled that way so I am no help to him. I really want to make sure he does his homework right, so any help is greatly appreciated.

'crises' is the plural of 'crisis', I believe.
