Crisfield Maryland. Tangier island

We are thinking of going here this weekend for the crab fest. Have you ever been. Is it worth the trip. Would it be better not on festival weekend. It's a three hour ride so it would be a long day trip or weekend

I've never been to the crab feast, but I've been to Crisfield many times. There isn't really a whole lot to do there. The town is pretty small (although it appears to be getting bigger). There are a few places to walk around, but not much. Tangier is the same way. They're just small towns dependent on the Bay for survival. It's kind of picturesque down there though, which makes the drive nice.

can you take a ferry from crisfield to tangier and is it reasonable?

Also what might be the cheapest close town if we want to stay over night at like a days inn.
