Cringe-y Sign on Car for Bachelorette Party

I know it’s venmo or zelle or some other money transfer service, but is there a way to send a penny and a [nasty] message?

The Venmo thing is actually pretty common. Saw a ton on our drive to Disney and a lot after graduations.

What’s shocked me is TikTok influencers putting it in their bios. I mean, I guess that’s part of how they make their money, but it just seems weird to me.

I. feel. so. old. :rolleyes2

What a strange world we live in now. (I'm waaay too cheap to send my hard earned money to anyone unless I'm getting something of value in return or it's a deserving cause i believe in. (Which these sure aren't!)

I just got back from an 8-week road trip around the country. I saw a lot of this. Lists of states visited, vacation destinations, mileage driven, occasion being celebrated, etc. written on the back window along with Venmo information soliciting donations. I just can't imagine asking strangers to help fund my vacation.

I actually saw this in a parking lot the other day. New thing maybe? Still super tacky.

But then again, my MIL tried to get us to have a "dollar dance" at our wedding (which I had never heard of before) and I couldn't wrap my head around how it wasn't just a tacky cash grab.

A money dance at a wedding is (or was at least) very common.

I have seen the same signs on cars for people celebrating their 21st.
I had never heard of this until our recent road trip, but the one we saw was to buy someone a shot on their 21st. My kids thought it was outrageously funny. I thought it was tacky, but not surprising.

And the donor receives something in return, unlike the requests posted here.

Maybe these low-lifes begging for venmo cash feel others should be "honored" to fund their whatevers. The donors get a spiritual reward.

Let's face it. These are worse than the homeless junkies begging for drug or booze money.

Apparently it is in some areas, but I had never heard of it before then. No offense to anyone who had one or will have one, but it is not something I wanted or felt comfortable doing.

I saw something similar on someone's van for a road trip. Not my cup of tea but I hadn't thought about it again until this moment.

I rank this below gofundme or mlm requests on the "cringe" scale as at least the venmo requests are impersonal. I think it's way worse to pressure family members for money.

It's the new thing I guess. I live off the 15 freeway which is the main route between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, I've been seeing this alot lately. "Headed to Vegas..." and then all their Venmo/cash app info...lol

Many of the wineries in Seattle have large signs stating "No Bachelorette Parties". Too many drunkards just yelling Rose Rose Rose.

Bahahahaha, thanks for the laugh

People set up accounts to pay for funerals.
The cheapest possible direct cremation in our city costs about $900.00. I know people who don't have that in hand or any available form of credit, if they were to suffer a sudden, tragic loss. I’d gladly contribute to funeral costs or anything else a bereaved family might need. But more booze for classless drunks who are already making a spectacle of themselves? Never in a million years.

I’ve never seen this and IMO it’s tacky, but let’s face it, some people have no shame and will do anything for money.

Aren’t there funeral directors who donate their services to indigent families/individuals? Something simple but dignified. I’m not talking about so-called potter’s fields run by a city or other government subdivision.
