Cringe-y Sign on Car for Bachelorette Party

Eh, there's a lot about bachelor/bachelorette parties that aren't the finest examples of sophistication and grace. I remember seeing buttons/t-shirts for bachelorette parties 25+ years ago that implored strangers to buy the bride a drink. I think only the Venmo part is new. So... while I do think it's kind of tacky, I'm not sure that it's any worse than before. I'm sure they were just trying to have fun. Nobody's forcing anyone to send money.

I have seen the same signs on cars for people celebrating their 21st.

Well….it may not be any actual event. There’s a car in my neighborhood that says “twins 21st, buy us a drink!” With all kinds of girly drawings and girls name Venmo info—the thing is the writing has stayed in that car for three months….and I don’t think anyone in that house is a twin or turning 21 the oldest just graduated high school.

Does this happen anywhere else? In my town, I saw a car driving that said "Gwen's Getting Married!! Buy the Bride a Shot!" with the Venmo information below. That seems really trashy to me, expecting strangers to give you money. Anyone else?
I was a bar back for a short stint at the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, FL and you don't want to know what some bachelorettes were willing to do for a shot.

What I wonder is who actually transfers money to these people? Why would you? There's not even any social interaction like there would be in-person. I can't imagine they ever get any takers, but then they must becuase otherwise why do it?

Kids (mentally,, not agewise, they are adults) send people large amounts of money just because they watch them play video games online. I would guess a lot of young people would send money to something like this. It seems like this is what the young folk do these days.

I mean, yeah, but at least then they get some kind of interaction out of it. If I send some money to a random sign on a car, I don't even get to see the outcome, or meet the person, or anything. It's just money going into a void.

I saw the same thing recently and was disgusted. Tacky as hell.

I don't even have a venmo but really I just can't muster enough energy to come up with adjectives for it like so many people seem to do *yawn* .I really don't care or see an issue with it. Pretty sure people doing it on their cars aren't expecting anything, if someone happens to donate okay whatevs

Until I got to the part where you explained it, I was interpreting that to mean they had twin babies due on the 21st and I was thinking “Yeah, that might be a justifiable reason to beg strangers for a stiff drink.”

It’s the exact same thing as sending graduation money to your hairdressers sisters son, who you’ve never met, but they still sent you an invite to the cash grab…I mean party.

People here get all sorts of offended when it’s pointed out lol
