Criminal Minds -- DIS Official Thread 1 (SPOILERS!)

Well, in the interest of full disclosure, I thought JJ was an incredibly annoying and somewhat useless character, so it didn't bother me at all that she left. I didn't hold that against the new show at all. (Yes, I realize that I am in a huge minority of one on here, apparently. :) )

Now Emily....totally different subject. I liked her very much and am sad to see her gone. Still don't hold it against the new show, though.

Bring it on! I hope other people feel okay to express their different opinions. Someone might actually like Seaver. :upsidedow It's the DIS after all. We never all agree in any other thread. This thread would seem oddly freaky and Stepford Wife-ish if we all agreed with each other. :scared1:

So, would we say that Reid is gifted? :rolleyes1

Well, everyone is gifted in the FBI. ;)
So Reid is just. . . average.

Garcia is so gifted in computer codes, the FBI put her on a special list - much shorted than a Watch List.

Morgan is a giftedly beautiful, yummy alpha-male, unlike the normal, geeky FBI suit-types.

Hotch is just gifted all over. It's always the quiet ones, where still waters run deep.

J.J. was so gifted that the Defense Department of the Pentagon had to steal her away.

Rossi is so giftedly tenacious, that he comes back to the team when his other colleagues are long since retired and hanging out on a beach somewhere, doing book signings.

Prentiss could have just retired into obscurity after "Lauren" died, but she had to work for the BAU.

So I guess Dallas Clark found something to do during the NFL Lock Out! Too funny. Looks like he is playing a police officer. Probably the Unsub too. :)

That schedule was whatever scenes they were filming that day. They might have been just tracking down the unsub. But, the unsub might not have has scenes that day.

This episode was a little unsettling with the unsub still alive and apparently not cured. Wonder if we will see him again?

Hmm. . . they did that with the Reaper, where he showed up again the following season. It would fit, that it would make Reid crazy again about becoming schizophrenic, himself.

Anyone notice that Seaver is in the opening credits now and Prentiss is out. Grrrr. I don't think I will ever like her. I can't stand her!!!

:sad1: I guess they wanted to make sure not to pay Paget for any more episodes as a cast member.

Rachel Nichols has been in the credits for a couple weeks now. I really hope they replace her next season. :(

Hi fellow CM junkies!
Just watched my DVR'ed CM episode from last night.
Pretty good episode!!

I still hate Seaver.
WHY are they giving her so much face time this episode? REALLY annoying me!!:scared1:

Also, the grocery store scene in the beginning creeped me out!
No more late night solo grocery trips for me!

Hubby won that battle. He HATES me out alone at night...this show has not helped that fear! :scared1:

Oh my gosh! I can't believe I have never seen this thread before!! I love CM. Now, I may have to take the next week reading all the posts of this thread, just to find out who misses Mandy Patinkin. ahhh. I miss him.

BTW, does anyone know when the season finally is? Aren't they usually the beginning of May?

And... never mind I will just read all the posts. ;)

Yeah, actually I looked it up and read an article that said that he has a bit part. He asks a couple of questions during the scene where the team is giving the police the profile. Obviously NOT the Unsub.

The only reason that I thought that he MIGHT be the Unsub is that like Law & Order, the guest that you recognize is USUALLY the bad guy. :) Not always, but usually!

Hi fellow CM junkies!

No more late night solo grocery trips for me!

Hey! :wave2:
You know, I usually go out at nite to to get late nite munchies. I'm usually dragging a couple of bags of stuf around with me during the day and am too tired to head to the grocery store to lug home some more stuff. So I've been running out lat nite to get some stuff.

Now I have to worry about psycho insomniacs? :scared1:

Welcome to the CM Hangout! :welcome:

There are 5 more episodes, with a couple reruns inserted into the schedule coming up. So, it looks like the season will end about mid-May. :(

Someone did post a great Mandy Patinkin story a while back on another thread. I was going to quote & post it here and I forgot.

She said she saw Mandy in concert. The room was packed and there were no seats left. She and her friends were squished off to the side. Either Mandy had extra chairs from behind the stage pulled out so they got to sit right up front, next to the stage, or he just had them sit right on the edge of the stage. She said many was really a nice person. :thumbsup2

Yes, I hate that about L&O. They interview a dozen people on the show, then suddenly there is one recognizable guest star. Gee, I wonder who the murderer is? :scratchin

I will take it all. All episodes and show life and real life. :goodvibes

Okay, let's see if we can give the condensed version. :scratchin

Starting about last June, A.J. Cook (J.J.) was fired from the show. Paget was able to negotiated a shortened contract of only 18 episodes, telling her she was definitely gone after that.

The fans made such a stink over both A.J. & Paget, that the producers realized they might have goofed a bit. They brought J.J. back for 2 episodes so she could say a proper goodbye.

Paget, they decided to offer her the chance to come back to the show full season next year after all. But, Paget decided she wanted in this years contract that she has an option NOT to come back if she gets offered a TV pilot: the possibility being the pilot would be made into a (hopefully long running) series for her.

Can you blame her? They told her that her character & and she, as an actress were expendable. :sad2: Then because of the fans, they decided to bring her back. She still wouldn't know if she'd get to stay a year after that.

PLUS: Shemar Moore (Morgan) and Thomas Gibson (Hotch's) contracts are both up at the end of THIS season. They are BOTH currently in negotiation as whether to stay. If either one leaves, it could tank the show. Why would Paget want to come back for another season during that?

Paget did get a pilot for NBC and is currently filming it now. It is a comedy. So it is still up in the air whether she will come back, or even wants to come back. So they made Prentiss' last episode a potential cliffhanger, pending whether Paget will come back.

You still with me? popcorn::

Now to the CM part of the story:
We find out: before joining the FBI, Paget was secretly working for the international Interpol, as an undercover agent/spy, (or something like that.)

During that time, she and a few other Interpol colleagues were working on this case about a really bad guy named Doyle. Emily pretended to fall in love with him, move in with him. She got kind of engaged to him, while pretending to be "Lauren" as her cover.

Doyle was finally caught and sent to a prison in Russia. "Lauren" was supposedly killed in some car accident so Doyle wouldn't go looking for Emily when/if he got out. Emily could be free to be Emily.

Doyle breaks out of prison. She is warned by one of her Interpol colleagues that he is out. One by one, Doyle kills them off. He leaves clues for Emily, showing her he knows she's still alive and is out to get her. He's also killing families, and leaving a pattern, which of course, brings in the BAU to investigate.

Doyle & Emily even meet face to face, so Doyle can just threaten her. He doesn't want to kill her yet until she's suffered some more. He says he will kill Emily and her family, which is of course the Team, if she tells them about him.

So the team doesn't know about Prentiss' connection with the unsub killing families. When they do find out his name, and know who to hunt for, Emily up & leaves the BAU, going rogue, to hunt and kill Doyle herself, and draw him away from the team.

When the team figures out the Prentiss/Doyle connection, and that he's some international bad guy, J.J. is brought in to help. It's unclear whether the Defense Dept sent her, since it's international, or if Hotch brought her in.

Doyle captures Emily. He tortures her quite a bit. Giving the team time to locate her. When they finally descend on the building, Emily & Doyle get into a huge fight. Emily picks up a long wooden stick and whacks Doyle a couple times, till he's on the ground. But, the stick breaks in half as Emily is hitting him. Doyle grabs the jagged broken half and stabs Emily in the stomach. Doyle escapes as Morgan reaches Emily.

Morgan tells Prentiss to hang on, to live. They take her to the hospital. After a long operation, J.J. walks into the waiting room to tell the team, "Emily never made it off the table."

Reid wants to run into the operating room. J.J. stops him and hugs him. The team is all in shock or grief, :sad1: except for the stoic and usually unemotional Hotch, who just stares for a couple moments at J.J holding the bereft Reid.

Hotch walks out of the room, stands in the hallway, and just stares at the operating room door. J.J. comes out to join him, and they exchange a few words.

They have a funeral for Prentiss. Hotch stares at J.J. a bit oddly from time to time. While they are putting flowers on her casket, we hear a voiceover of J.J. doing some famous quote: "People will believe a big lie sooner than a little one, and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it."

We cut to the next scene of an outdoor cafe in Paris. J.J steps forward and discretely sits down across a woman, with short dark hair, whose back is to us. J.J. places a pouch on the table and quietly says there are passports to three different countries in the pouch and info to bank accounts in each country with enough money to keep the woman comfortable. She tells her good luck.

The woman reaches for the pouch and we see a familiar hand, all cut and scraped up, with chewed up fingernails that remarkably looks like Emily's hand. :rolleyes1 They look at each other tenderly for a moment and the woman says a quiet thank you, takes the pouch and walks off.

Since we don't know if Paget will come back, we don't as yet know of there will be a continuation of this, or if they leave it there, with Emily "dead" as long as Doyle is out on the loose and will kill her if he gets a chance.

:worship: Good job Imzadi! I was gonna do the Prentiss explanation if you didn't but I was too lazy :rotfl:

Well late night grocery runs are out now. And "the list" goes on and on...

I've been having a CM DVD marathon the past few weeks. I'm trying to watch them all in a row, minus this season obviously. I've made it through the first two seasons. Now I miss Gideon again :rotfl: I should make a master list of things not to do as I go through the episodes :scratchin

If Morgan & Hotch were to go , that's it for me :sad1:

I 'm still hopeful that they will bring JJ & Emily backl:rolleyes1

I can see it now. Morgan is sent to NY or where ever to be in charge of his own team and Hotch is "retired" from all the stress of leading a team and is brought in occasionally to help out when needed. The CM team will all disband and the show will lead a slow death.

Thanks. I was going to be lazy too. I wanted to try to snip pieces from the IMDb.com synopses, but that didn't work.

I've been wondering if they've been slowly leading towards Hotch's possible departure. He was missing completely from one episode because he had to deal with his son Jack. Maybe he needed the week off from filming because of a personal reason, like a death in the family? :confused3 Or he also might have a contract, like Paget, with one less episode, and I swear, he seems to be in the show less this season, and in a more peripheral, support team way. Yes, I know last season focused on him a lot because of the Reaper storyline. he might be taking more of a back seat. OR, the producers are showing Thomas that the show can get along without him if they have to, by weaning us off of him.

In my opinion, the producers already made a mistake with J.J. and Paget and Seaver. They lose Morgan and Hotch, I think it will be a fast death, not a slow one. :sad1:

The main producer of the show for the last few years, Edward Bernero, is leaving at the end of this season to produce a brand new series of his own. He's jumping ship. Who knows what ideas the remaining or new producers will come up with.

OK, I've been out of the loop for about two seasons....can someone tell me what season we are on and if there is some place online that I can watch free full episodes?

Tvguide.com says there's a new episode this week AND next week!

Uh oh. Description for next week: "The BAU hunts a stalker in San Diego who is targeting college students with the help of a local police officer. Meanwhile, the team comes under Strauss' scrutiny in the wake of the loss of Prentiss."

Strauss. :headache:

I should probably be concerned about the targeting of college students since I'll be one of those in September
