They're back!:worship: Horrifying, freaky episode. But what a wonderful ending! Loved Rossi and la familia!

Ditto. I read someplace over the summer that the writers wanted to balance outside lives for our little family with the creepy nasty stuff that they have to deal with at work and I think last night was an example of how they're going to do that. I think there's a little Stephen King going on with these writers though-yikes that was an icky one. With what these folks deal with day after day, they need outlets and it's good to show how they handle it.

I thought Reid was acting a little childish, actually. I get that he has limited social skills, but Lord knows he's smart enough to have figured out all the variables as to WHY Hotch and JJ couldn't tell him.

I like Morgan's attitude-hey, his friend is by his side again. It's all good.

Any episode when we get Hotch to smile is a good one.

Really good episode last night and very creepy...I'm glad that this week was not a repeat of last week...I am glad it was just them setting up the season. DH asks how I can watch this show because it is always filled with gruesome. Murders....I sometimes wonder that myself...on occ I do need to take a week off but than I follow up with double episodes back to back...the one from the week before and the new one :lmao:

Am I the only one that wonders how week after week we can watch these stories? Besides the acting and the characters...I'm asking about the stories?

GOT DISNEY- lol! I think its not much different than the books I read- Patricia Cornwell, Kathy Reichs, Tess Gerritsen. I switched from historical romances to forensic thrillers after seeing Silence of the Lambs. I was fascinated with the psychological conundrum of how we could almost like Lector and how the profilers were able to visit the minds of the offenders and still retain their own humanity.

I think with TV and most novels, we can deal with the horror of the offenders because of our morbid curiosity and the fact that in many (I won't say most) cases we have heroes that win and beat the evil unsubs. If that didn't happen I don't think any amount of profiler eye candy or chemistry would overcome the horror of the crimes themselves. We've also become more and more interested in the details themselves as we have a national fascination with serial killers; we're more immune to the horrors.

My big question is how do the writers sleep at night as they go over and over the storylines daily? I can't imagine dreaming sweetly after putting last night's story line to the script!

:lmao:I never thought about the writers or even the actors that play these parts....I am a retired nurse and I love to read medical horror stories....I myself find the psych of crazy people interesting....what makes them tick and be able to do such heinous crimes....sometimes however it does get over whelming....

DH can't watch this show...my kids don't although my 17 yo has watched some of them....

My medical back ground keeps me from being groused out but the fact that there are actual people out there doing such things is what disturbs me.....yet at the same time fascinates me....nice to see I'm not the only one...:rotfl:

No medical background here, but I did see an autopsy when I was 13 in AP Biology- we went to the morgue and the morgue museum. Between that and Quincy I was an early addict.

I did work with the 'mentally ill' , chronic not criminal, as a casemanager. I had a very good sense of when someone was decompensating or once- I just couldn't tolerate a client in the community residence program I was working in. Everyone else loved him, but he really raised the hair on the back of my neck. After about 6 months, he threatened another client with scalding water and was abusing illegal drugs. My boss finally agreed with me and we were able to remove him to emergency housing. Long story short, 2 years later he walked into a state assistance building and stabbed a 'friend' to death in front of the state employee. He's doing life now.

I agree...creepy. But I always get especially affected by the ones with young kids in them. Or if the kids are my kids ages. After CM last night DH,DS, and myself started watching CSI, at that point I said..... we really have to start watching some sitcoms. Never would give up CM, but a good sitcom now and then....

Side note, DH says this unsub was THE creepiest. He says even creepier than Tim Curry character. I can't disagree.

After the show I talked to my mom and said the rest of the shows aren't all rainbows and butterflies but that show was disturbing

I've always been interested in medical type shows. Figuring out what happened. Seei g operations. Seeing how the cops work through evidence

When I was 11 my 9 year old broher and I were visiting my aunt in Scotland and we wereout for a drive in the mountains

We came across an horrific accident. My aunt was a dr so she stopped to help

In our car were my 9 year old bro me @ 11 a cousin at 11 and twins at 13

All but my bro were interested in How the accident happened. Did the survive (no the didn't) what were the injuries

My aunt eventually banned all accident related conversation

I thought Reid was acting a little childish, actually. I get that he has limited social skills, but Lord knows he's smart enough to have figured out all the variables as to WHY Hotch and JJ couldn't tell him.

I like Morgan's attitude-hey, his friend is by his side again. It's all good.

Emotions and feelings are outside of logic. The also operate outside of time. That's why even though you know to expect a sibling to yank your chain at a holiday event, the knowing of it or knowing why (s)he does it, doesn't stop them from being able to push your buttons.

Logically, he could understand why J.J. had to keep the secret from him, but it was the 10 weeks of going over there that he felt a deep sense of betrayal and being lied to.

Reid grew up in a family where his parent's marriage fell apart because of a deep secret. His mother, being mentally ill and changing every few minutes gives him no sense of stability. He thought he had that with J.J. - the only person who calls him "Spence," and because of it, a different connection than to the members of team. He thought he could trust her enough to go over and cry for 10 weeks and she lied to him that whole time.

I was kind of surprised Morgan was able to let it go so easily. But, it does show he is more mature and seasoned. Having led the team for a while, he probably did understand the decisions Hotch & J.J. made.

I ask all the time how can I keep watching these particularly gory episodes. :crazy2: There was one season where each week was a gruesome episode. I wasn't sure I could get through it. I really hope they aren't going back to all of that.

Add in more of the stories of the team and how they deal with it. i think all the fan uproar last season showed how important following the team is, not that this show is like Law & Order, where the stars are interchangeable every few years. But, dial down the gory bits. :scared:

Thomas Gibson (Hotch) says they purposely keep the show light on the set in between takes. The fact that everyone can step out or away from it, is what has made them be able to jump so deeply into the darkness. Knowing they can leave it behind.

Here are some outtakes of them cracking up because of a flub:

Wow at 13 they took you to see an autopsy:eek::lmao: I thought it was bad enough when I was 13 and we dissected a pig...:rotfl:

The smell alone from an autopsy is enough to make anyone pass out...not to mention the cutting into flesh...

I loved Quincy...that was a really good show...of course I am drawn to a lot of medical TV shows...

I to agree that they don't do to many shows like last night...in between they need to cut out some gore and concentrate on the story itself....the story's are what makes me want to watch it and of course the characters....not the gore....although once in awhile the show like last night i like...just not all the time.

I was really lucky that I had a perfectly insane Bio teacher. The whole trip was not required and a special opportunity. My dad signed the permission slip and told me I'd never watch Quincy again. (This from someone who would pass out from his marriage license blood test!)

The autopsy was optional- students could stay in a viewing room or like me and a few others, go in and watch. It was a drug overdose- young girl found in a motel room. The smell made several students (I was the only girl that went into the autopsy room) puke and leave- although they gave us the stuff to put on our upper lip like in Silence of the Lambs and also had cloths soaked in something else that they gave us to 'sniff' if we felt overwhelmed by the stench. I thought the museum was much worse (this was a teaching hospital/university). Had actual displays from a variety of 'crime scenes' like autoerotica (my god the journal pages were educational!) weapons, suicide implements with many crime photos. There was also organs on display to show a variety of diseases. I had a hard time in the 'special display'. It was a fetal display- from abortion to still births. I cried a lot about that display.

I actually think I made a mistake when I chose not to follow with a career in some kind of forensics. Thats probably why I watch all of these shows.

I loved Quincy! Now that's dating a few of us. :lmao:

It was truly the first forensic crime show. I loved Jack Klugman's passion at playing Quincy explaining all the forensic stuff and how that person just had to have done the crime because the knife blade could only have come from that suspect, and that angle. . .

I resemble that remark! It was my favorite show! I loved how it also addressed many unspoken issues like orphan diseases-Tourettes, LCD, problems with planes and their seats, eating disorders, alcoholism.

I had a huge crush on Quincy's character-very strange thing for a 12 yr old! But I really loved how he kept digging until he was satisfied and could completely explain a death.

I see I'm not the only one that found this weeks episode disturbing. It was a great show though and I loved the ending. After the show, CSI started with a family murder scene. I said out loud to myself "that's what I need, more murder." Sometimes after a few of those shows, I need to change the channel and fall asleep to Frasier.

Wow! What a field trip at that age!

CBS WINS WEDNESDAY IN VIEWERS 09.29.2011

http://www.cbspressexpress.com/div.php/cbs_entertainment/release?id=29287

"CSI" Wins At 10:00 PM, Topping "Revenge" in Viewers, Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54

"Criminal Minds" Averages More Viewers Than "X-Factor" For the Second Consecutive Week :dance3:

"Survivor: South Pacific" Steady Against "X-Factor" and Comedy Competition

CBS won Wednesday in viewers as CRIMINAL MINDS finished ahead of "X-Factor" in viewers while CSI took over demo leadership at 10:00 PM, topping "Revenge" in adults 18-49, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for Sept. 28.

SURVIVOR: SOUTH PACIFIC was first in adults 25-54 (4.3/11), tied for first in households (6.3/10, with FOX), second in viewers (10.46m, -230,000 viewers behind FOX) and adults 18-49 (3.1/09).

At 9:00PM, CRIMINAL MINDS was first in households (7.8/12) and viewers (12.62m) while averaging 4.6/10 in adults 25-54 and 3.6/09 in adults 18-49.

At 10:00PM, CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION was first in households (7.3/12), viewers (11.64m), adults 25-54 (3.8/09) and adults 18-49 (3.0/08).

CBS won the 10:00PM hour for the third straight night in both adults 25-54 and adults 18-49.

For the night, CBS was first in households (7.1/11), viewers (11.58m), second in adults 25-54 (4.2/10) and tied for second in adults 18-49 (3.3/09, with ABC).

Note: DVR penetration is at 42%, up from 38% last year. Last Fall, Live+7 audiences for original entertainment series on CBS gained over 1.8 million viewers, on average, over Live+ Same Day ratings, more than any other network. This season, we expect DVR penetration to continue to increase and, as a result, we expect DVR playback audiences to grow as well.

WooHoo! CM first in Wednesday nite ratings AGAIN!

:dance3:

Let's make it three weeks in a row tonight :thumbsup2

I'll be more active on the thread this week. Last Wednesday I kept flipping back and forth between CM and the last Red Sox game of the season. Tonight my full attention is on CM :yay:

Thomas Gibson (Hotch) says they purposely keep the show light on the set in between takes. The fact that everyone can step out or away from it, is what has made them be able to jump so deeply into the darkness. Knowing they can leave it behind.

Here is Thomas Gibson/Hotch in a new, funny video segment talking about this. Viewers wrote in to ask questions and he does a funny Q&A. He looks a lot healthier in this clip. :thumbsup2

ETA: Whoops! Link added.
