ya like any case would ever get solved with morgan walking around shirtless.

Case? There's a case? :confused3

In the second episode where Reid had his boy band haircut, he was giving the profile to a bunch of cops. He was so distracting, I couldn't concentrate on what he was saying. :lmao: I thought, real cops wouldn't take a guy who actually looked like this, seriously. :magnify:

Thomas & Matthew finished Day 2 in Monte Carlo.

Thomas (Hotch) Tweeted this is view from his hotel window. Beautiful view!

Of course, Thomas had to include a pic with a shoe, for his Tweet the Feet foot fetish. :teeth:
Nice perk to get free slippers in the hotel room.

This is snipped from criminalmindsroundtable.blogspot.com, who was able to get this French article, originally from PureMedias, translated into rough English for everybody. Kudos to them! :thumbsup2

Like Matthew (Reid,) in the last article, Thomas also talks about the arbitrary decision-making of CBS/ABC studio execs to fire people. :(

Interestingly, he also criticizes Mandy Patinkin, for the first time that I've ever seen. But, perhaps, he just doesn't want to be perceived as a show quitter, the way Mandy is. :rolleyes1 If Thomas leaves CM, this would be the first show he's left. (Underlining mine.)

Here is the article in English. Go to the link below if you want the French version.

Thomas Gibson Interviewed by PureMedia at Monte-Carlo 2011

by Charles Decant

Live from Monte-Carlo, while the series still those very well here, Thomas Gibson is here to promote Criminal Minds at the 51’ Festivale de la Télévision de Monte-Carlo. Many was awaiting the actor who is in the middle of renegotiating his contract to continue his role in the upcoming seven season.

Interviewed by puremedias.com, the actor talks about this situation and explain that he wishes to be back but that the negotiations are long and complicated. If he doesn’t say much on the arm strength, he does talks at large on the type of negotiations that goes in Hollywood, where the economic crisis is used as an excuse by the studios to refuse actors pay increase.

Thomas Gibson also talks about the dark side of the series, the absence of support from the critics or Mandy Patinkin leaving and the astonishing decisions that have pushed AJ Cook and Paget Brewster to leave the cast and then come back this season.

How are the negotiations for your return to the series?

Oh, I'm in negotiations? (Laughs) I hope we will reach an agreement. I'd like to continue because I feel it has not yet be said everything there is to say about the character.

I guess you can not talk about these negotiations in particular, but can you talk a little about this type of situation generally? I guess you already got into this situation in the past...

It's always a long process. We hope we will reach a fair medium, as in any negotiation in fact. And we always hope that both parties feel they have been treated fairly.

There is the impression that, in recent years, the studios have used the economic crisis to justify the wage cuts they require from the actors...

Yes, yes. But I know that the income generated by the studios and networks has seen an increase. So they have to explain where exactly is the economic crisis. Listen, I'm not talking about people in general, obviously the economy is bad for most consumers. But the studios and the networks are fairly resistant...

Mandy Patinkin left the show several years ago already, but he spoke of his difficulty in managing its very dark stories...

I worked with Mandy in the past and I'm not sure this is the reason for his departure, at least not the only reason. But with Mandy you never know though...

And you, it does not affect you, the darkness of the situations and stories?

It's fiction. It should be remembered, really realize that we can not stop criminals, it's not real blood on the floor. But we have to make it all believable as actors, so we put yourself in that situations. I do not know if Mandy remembered that it was all fiction.

Mandy Patinkin also played in Dead Like Me, and he left the show...

Yes, and he played in Chicago Hope with me long ago, and he also left the series. I do not want to say that he abandons everything he does along the way, but sometimes the facts speak for themselves!

The series works very well in the U.S., as NCIS, CSI, Mentalist... Why do the police series work so well, in your opinion?

I think the police series will always work and what makes some work better than others, is that people get attached to a team, to the characters. It's about chemistry between the characters but also between the actors, of course. And I think for our part, we are very good at integrating criminal stories with stories of the characters. I think it's our secret.

But sometimes it does not, as was the case this season for the spin-off of Criminal Minds, CBS launched in mid-season and it's already canceled...

The stories were really similar, but perhaps there was something missing in the other aspect, the personal aspect. I think the spin-off failed to differentiate itself from the original. Maybe they did not take the time to prepare everything well, maybe all was not completely formed in the minds of the creators and writers. And then the expectations were very high for the series while we, when we arrived, were faced with [the TV show,] Lost, and nobody dared hope better than second place for us. And then finally, at the end of the season, finished ahead of Lost! We knew we were not the priority of the network but in the end the public found the series and that's what matters.

You mentioned the importance of the team and the success of the characters in the series. But there have been considerable changes in the team with the departures of AJ Cook and Paget Brewster. I guess they didn't ask you your opinion on the impact that their departures will have?

No, it's clear. They didn't ask anyone in fact. And that was the problem! I still don't understand why they did it. I've never seen any explanation to justify this movement, I think that there was no reason and it was an arbitrary decision. And it is obvious that the series has suffered! The arrival of Rachel Nichols was interesting, I think she did a great job and her character was promising, there were stories to tell. But she will not have the opportunity to develop because everything changes again. But she's a very good actress, I'm not worried for her. And I am delighted that the team is at full strength for the new season.

Did you express your doubts when you learned that AJ Cook and Paget Brewster would have to leave?

Yes. It's complicated because we do our best to respect the creative decisions. But this was not a creative decision. It was an arbitrary decision. We all have asked ourselves what could have gone through their minds, we do not really understand the logic.

And have your say in the evolution of your character?

Yes! It's a real dialogue at that level. At the end of the first season, we had a meeting with the writers and the creator of the series and we discussed what we liked in our characters, what they liked us to do, in as much as it was good or bad. It has established a collaborative spirit and there is always a lot of dialogue on the set. I have even got to send articles I found interesting to the screenwriters. It's nice that we can discuss that. I've been involved in projects where there was too much respect for the writers. And of course I understand that. I did a lot of drama, lots of Shakespeare, so I know there is a reason to respect the author. But the players also have things to bring to the table most of the time. I think this series is better when we work more with each other.

The series is very dark, as it has been said. You compensate when you aren't acting? How would you describe the atmosphere on set?

Yes, the atmosphere is very light! We really love each other and it is very rare to have a team with so much understanding between the members. We are very close to each other, almost like a family. We spend a wonderful time together.

The series works well but is not really supported by the critics...

It is true that there would always be series that would have critical acclaim, and that's good for them. And if we could have 15 million viewers and be acclaimed by the critics, I'd take both of course. But I prefer the audience. I stopped reading reviews a long time ago. Sometimes I come across an article by chance... I always say that everyone is entitled to an opinion, but it does not imply a right to be taken seriously. In the end, if 14 million people follow us, that's enough.

Yesterday, Felicity Huffman explained that in her view, all TV series have a deadline. If Criminal Minds lasted 10, 15 years and you had the feeling that your character has reached the end of his story, would you leave the series?

Yes, without a doubt. I agree with her, but TV series can last long, but instead, actors always are driven by the scenarios, must remain as far as they can. But I know that one of the things that appeals to players is change and the opportunity to do different things. It also plays a role in such decisions.

Joe Mantegna(Rossi) thinks that TG(Hotch) will be back :thumbsup2

http://www.tvguide.com/News/Mantegna-Gibson-Criminal-Minds-1034208.aspx

An impending shakeup in Criminal Minds' BAU team looms as star Thomas Gibson is still in contract negotiations, but at least one of his costars isn't worried about the future of the show.

"I think it's all going to be fine — I'm not going to hold my breath," Joe Mantegna told TV Guide Magazine at the SAG Foundation's 2nd Annual Golf Classic on June 13, where he served as event host. "You'd like to think that a lesson would be learned in that you don't fool around with stuff that's working. I feel hopeful and confident that it will all work out and we'll all go back to work."

News of Gibson's possible departure also comes after CBS announced the return of two former cast members to full time status: A.J. Cook and Paget Brewster.

"It's fantastic," said Mantegna of his returning costars. "Things happen — God knows why things happen the way they do — but I'm glad it worked out the way it did."

Minds' seventh season is scheduled to begin shooting next month. Will you still tune in even without Gibson?

HAHAHA he chopped off all his hair.

i opened it then had to look back at the tital of the thread because i thought i clicked on something else then looked back and though "who the heck is that"

then spotted the grin lol

to answer the last question in that quote. Would you tune in if Hotch wasn't there.

Answer - yes.

while he is the head of the team the show isn't about him (like the show with Keira Sedwick) it's about the team and the crimes.

ya it would be hard to find someone to step in and they may go through a few before there is someone who "clicks" but if i stopped watching all the shows because someone leaves of contract isn't renewed i woudln't be watching many shows.

NCSI, CSI, Soaps. all these shows are group casts and can handle one person (at a time) leaving.

I don't think I could watch. :sad1: I do feel Hotch is the anchor of the team. :grouphug:

I was even wondering if I could get the mods to close down the thread in protest, (since I was OP,) if he left & I stopped watching. :scratchin Someone else could take over in a new thread.

But, I'm sure the mods would have a similar reaction as you about watching shows: "We don't just close down threads because the OP's favorite actor leaves and they no longer watch the show." :rotfl:

In the beginning, I watched because of Mandy Patinkin. When he left, I gave the show a chance to gel with someone else. It did.

I'll continue to give it a chance to gel if TG leaves. If it doesn't, I'll stop watching. If it does, I'll keep watching.

I assume you meant NCIS? While I agree that it could survive without a couple of the people on the show, Gibbs really IS the show and I can't even imagine watching it without him!

Not that it matters, and I realize how totally random this is. :) My deep dark secret is that I love NCIS more than Criminal Minds, and I like Criminal Minds very much. :)

This video is so funny! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
It's Criminal Minds in FRENCH! The interview was done last week when Thomas (Hotch) & MGG (Reid) were in Monte Carlo.

Listening to the voice they have for Reid is funny. :lmao: I guess I never realized how much Reid talks. The voice for Hotch is kind of slimy. Prentiss is the only one that fits, as she's lived in Europe for years with her ambassador mom.

The clip of CM starts 24 seconds into the video for a couple minutes:

Still no news on Hotch/TG :sad2: I've been checking every day this week. Come on CBS/ABC

Me too. :(

Someone posted the ratings for the top 50 shows in ALL of TV this past year, (or this season,) and CM is 9th on the list. Hello, CBS/ABC got that? And that was even with all the wacko cast changes you put us through this season. Don't change again what's NOT broken.

CM: SB was like 27th. CBS/ABC, that show turned out to be a great decision. Not!

I think pretty much everyone here has already signed the petition. The signature signing has pretty much petered out there. :( That's too bad. One blog had 40,000 people who voted in a poll (now closed,) that they would NOT watch if Hotch is gone. I hope they sent those results in to CBS & ABC.
