Hi everyone. I am investigating the Cricut Expression and have seen MANY places on the Net for comments...I am getting overwhelmed! So I am coming here since I trust the opinions on this board. I am a scrapbooker although that is not the reason I want the Cricut. I am hoping to be able to cut vinyl for walls, glass and other various gift items. My main question is has anyone ever tried a Heat Transfer Vinyl? I would love to be able to make my kids shirts for the world with it! :goodvibes I have searched and cannot find much info on this. I already know the SCAL is what I will be getting in order to use my computer fonts. Could it be as easy as cutting an image of Mickey and ironing it onto a shirt?? I need help! Any and all info is appreciated!!!

I have the original Cricut and the Cricut Expression (got it a week ago for my birthday).

I haven't used the vinyl for either of my bugs yet, but find it EXTREMELY easy to use SCAL for other things, so I imagine that the vinyl is just as easy. The only reason I haven't is because I haven't picked any up at Hobby Lobby. As far as the heat transfer vinyl goes, I imagine that it's the same as vinyl. Finding your settings and then getting a good cut.

If you have any specific questions, let me know. I've been using my Cricut for about 2 years now, so I've done a lot of stuff with it. The learning curve is very easy, you should be able to pick it up in no time.

And as far as designs and such go, there are plenty of SCAL groups on yahoo groups that you can get into and get good designs from.

I am moving this to the Scrapbooking boards, I think you might get more responses.:)

Ok - so I have been all over yahoo and other various sites learning all about the Cricut. Now - the SCAL program cuts any SVG file and tru type font off my computer - I get that. What exactly is Inkscape I am reading a ton about?? Is it a program that allows me to take an image say a coloring page and convert it to an SVG file so I can cut it?? That is what I am understanding - is that correct?? :confused3 WOW - there is SO much info to understand! thanks!!!!
