Cricut questions - can the small bug do cards?

Hi there! I'm researching ideas for some bridal shower invites I'm planning to make and I really like the cards on Life is a Beach. Can I do those cards on the small bug? I'd like to make them 5 or 6 inches when folded in half. I was just about to win a cartridge on ebay and was outbid at the last minute, but I let it go because I just realized it may not be too compatible with the small bug. My concern is that it will only cut horizontally on the small bug which would limit the size of the card. Any info from you more experienced cricuteers would be great. Thank you!

Which of the LAB cards did you want to do, a "square" one or a "photo" one? We have a baby bug and and an E (and LAB) - so, we could test one out for you if you want and report back...

Well, the good news is...bid, bid, bid! What a cute card!

It uses pretty much the entire 6x12" sheet of paper I put into the baby bug. When the machine is set at 5.5" (the largest the baby can do), that turns out to be the size of the front of the card - so the entire card is 5.5 x11" (the front is a 5.5" square). The cut out hibiscus area/window is then 3.25" square.

I hope this helps you out...but it helped me too! I may just have to make more of these cuties - haven't used this cart for the cards at all. Mmmmm....colored with my Copic markers, this hibiscus will look stunning!

This is OT but I was wondering if you posted a little while back about getting cartridges cheaper on ebay?

Someone did and I tried it and got the Batman cart for $24, which is much cheaper than any stores around here. I wanted to thank whoever it was who suggested looking there. If it was you, thank you!

Thank you! I'm thinking about putting a different colored cardstock layered with vellum behind the hibiscus on the invites. I came to check your answer before opening the cart up. So excited!

laura - I don't think that was me... I haven't posted here in such a long time. It may have... but most likely was someone else. What a deal on the Batman cart! I just got my Life is a Beach for $33. I was hoping for lower but there was no shipping and I needed it ASAP.

I haven't bought a new cart in over a year. This will be fun!
