Hi!

I'm seeing the Gypsy's on sale ($249 at Michaels this week) and was thinking about getting one. I've hung around the Cricut site some and read some of the headaches but some of the positives might be worth it - being able to have all cartridges at my fingertips, being able to stitch words together, planning layouts away from the machine.

Do you love it or hate it or wish you hadn't gone that route? I don't have any of the computer programs to do the similar work. Would you recommend those over the Gypsy? I just have cartridges and my Cricut Expression.

Thanks!

i have it and I LOVE IT!!!!! I dont do alot of designing my own patterns -- but you can download the files that people make and use them. I love how I can place items on the mat and save paper --- I can cut out things with more then one color at a time --- LIke with the disney designs -- if you were to cut out mickey you can put the black up in the right hand corner of the mat then place a piece of white paper in the other corner, then the red and tan pieces and know exactly where they will cut out. (does that make sence?)
I also have design studio but dont use it as much as the gypsy. The thing I love about it is that all my carts are now in one place (i have almost 75 of them) -- no need to lug them to a crop -- plus i was only taking a few with me to a crop then would say --"Oh I wish I had my other cart."
I couldnt imagine using my cricut with out it. I like to weld the letters for titles and its so easy! I also like that you can preview the other carts and even design with them and save the file and cut them out when you get the cart later. and the search feature is awesome -- You can type in "turtle" and it will show you all the carts that have turtles on them --- I always forget that some carts have some of the cutest things on them
My father gave it to me as my birthday/christmas present --- I wouldnt have been able to afford it otherwise.

hope this helps -- feel free to ask any questions if i didnt answer them here

I love my G also! I have not experienced any of the headaches that others have. I use him for everything. It is a great time/paper saver and it makes paper piecing a lot easier. :thumbsup2

I can second just about everything Jennifer said (I just don't have as many cartridges:lmao:)

I love my gypsy. I know there is a lot of drama at the cricut boards. But for what I do it works perfectly. Searching, testing sizing of things (really helped at Christmas when I was trying to do vinyl for etching), designing (I do very little but enough for me;)) laying out cuts to save paper.

I love mine and don't regret it at all.

HTH.

I got one on Monday(an after christmas :santa: gift to myself). I had done some research :surfweb: and reading on the Cricut threads also. I bought it and only used the preloaded font (as not to lock in my carts if I didn't like it) and did a bunch of cutting to practice with it. I love the welding and the placement options that are available. It really allows for use of different paper usage and cut sizes. I still need to practie more on getting the different layers cut at the right size, but that a me problem and not a G problem. I am glad I got it and last night I put my carts on it- also very easy. I think since I did all the updates before I actually cut with it, I didn't have any problems that were listed on the boards. I also watched a few youtube videos as a pre-tutors. I love it  , and so far I have made a bunch of stuff that would have taken a lot more time to make. ENJOY YOURS!!!

The only downside, is now I am on ebay looking for a ton of carts!!!! Being able to see the other fonts and shapes makes me have cart envy!!!

.

dont worry --- you'll get there --- my Secrete to lots of carts is that Joann's use to let you use a coupon on Carts -- and also I send my father out on Cart finding missions in NC at hobby Lobby and he loves to find ones that just come out for me:eek: i know I am spoiled --- but i have come to terms with it:rotfl:

I love mine. I got it in early October after the big launch on HSN and I don't regret it one bit. I don't have as many carts (only about 35) but I love being able to take it with me and design things while I'm waiting places and such. I haven't had any problems with mine either. Once I did all the updating of my Cricut and such everything has been smooth sailing.

I started using my G and love it. I like (except for cart envy), that you can really see what is on a cart you don't have. On the look out for the Hannah Montana cart (love all of those fonts).
