My DW recorded a Cricut infomercial on the Tivo the other day. We watched it last night and now she has a bug for the bug. ;) She already has Sizzix but not that much.

I'm going to surprise her with the Expressions but would like to know what would be the top 5 must have carts to start off with. I may end up with the AC Moore bundle and the supplement those with the top 5.

So aside from the Disney's (a given), what would be your top 5 to start out with for generic scrapping? Thanks!

I love My World and Christmas Cheer. I would love to get Essential Accents and Joy of the Season. Can you tell I prefer the shape carts rather than the fonts. I feel one font goes a long way.

I'm the opposite - I like the fonts more than the shapes.

It depends what your wife would use in her scrapping - if she has baby pictures to scrap, then New Arrival would be a must-have. If she has school age kids, maybe Locker Talk. Lots of Holiday pictures - Joys of the Season or Christmas Cheer.

Here are my top 5 fonts:
Alphalicious, Opposites Attract, Mickey Font, Cuttin Up and All Mixed Up.
(Assuming you get the Bundle which comes with Plantin Schoolbook - a good all-purpose font. Without the bundle I'd recommend Base Camp, but it's very similar to Plantin)

Opposites Attract is a great font cart because it has both printing and cursive, so it's really like two carts in one:). Alphalicious is another fun font.

Paper Dolls has a ton of great stuff on it. I use it frequently for the individual elements on it, but have never actually made a paper doll.

I also love My World, Accent Essentials, and Christmas Cheer.

Other than the Disney four, which I use a lot more than I thought I would...

I like the Opposites Attract for the dual fonts, Paper Dolls, Christmas Cheer or Joys of the Season (I've used both equally), Celebrations (great year round shape cart) and I really like Base Camp.

Paper Dolls is a must have :) I agree though the Font carts are wicked fun. I've been using mine more and more.

Thanks for the input so far. I've got a nice starter list now.

I love my Doodlecharms since it is all purpose for many seasons. I also like Alphalicious and Christmas Cheer.

paper dolls and doodle charms, plus fonts. i got a lot more into the fonts when I got the DS and didn't have to glue every letter anymore!

I love Cuttin Up- it has 6 different ways to change the font so it's almost like 6 for 1. I also like Alphalicious. I think Doodlecharms is a great multipurpose shape cartridge- covers most of the holidays. I would say that if Christmas is on the list to scrap I love both of the Christmas. And since I have a school age child I love Locker Talk.

If I could only have 5, what kind of trick question is that? ;)

Okay, if you're going with the ACM bundle (which I would recommend b/c it's a really good deal, especially if you get it on sale for $319) and the 4 Disney ones, my list would be:
Alphalicious
Opposites Attract
Making the Grade
ZooBalloo
PaperDoll Dress Up

If you don't get the ACM bundle, I'd get

Alphalicious
Opposites Attract
Base Camp
Doodlecharms and
PaperDoll dress up
