We'll be staying in a two bedroom unit at the VWL with our sons' families. I know that there are Pack 'N Plays in all the units, but both daughter-in-laws would prefer cribs. I called the VWL and was told that there are small metal cribs available. Has anyone ever used them? Are they OK for an 18 month old? Mousekeeping said that the sides do not go down and the mattress does not adjust. One daughter-in-law has carpal tunnel so reaching down is an issue. She has a four month old. We were thinking about renting a crib from one of those rental places (A Baby's Best Friend). Has anyone ever done that? Is there enough room for the bigger crib? They are coming on different days so we would only need one crib. Thanks!!

If reaching down is an issue, than I'd definately rent. Also, those small metal cribs are the same size as a pack-n-play. I don't think it is big enough for a 18 month old. It also depends on where you are planning on putting the crib. If it's going to go in the second bedroom with the sofa bed remaining folded up, then I don't see it being a problem. I think it would be a tight fit in the living room. Also, there would be plenty of space in the master bedroom. I've never rented a crib but have read good reports on the family board, so if I needed to I wouldn't hesitate.

The first time we used the crib provided by WDW, I could not reach our little guy at the bottom of the crib because I was not tall enough. He was only 7 months old so he wasn't always sitting up when I tried to get him out. When he was 17 months old, it worked well for us but it was smaller and close to the size of a pack and play. For him, it wasn't a big issue because he was not a tosser and a turner. Bigger children probably would have a problem.

Thank you for the speedy replies! I've decided to rent a crib. It's not that expensive - about sixty dollars for eight nights.
