Hi! We’re staying in Port Orleans French Quarter and normally when we travel we put the baby’s pack and play in the bathroom at night so we all don’t have to go to bed at 7pm and I’m hoping we can do the same. This trip we were planning on keeping the pack and play at home and using the hotel crib.

Anyone else do this? Thanks!

I don't know that the crib will fit in the bathroom. The bathroom is just a small area for the shower and potty. The sinks are outside the bathroom.

I would say I am 90% sure it won't fit. The bathrooms are small. I think the best you will be able to do is tuck the crib into the "closet" area. Does POR have the curtain room dividers? Even if they do....sound will still travel as though you are right next to them...

How old is your baby? Maybe a portable bassinet or bouncy for them to sleep in?

Ok, so ya'll are gonna think Im nuts.....BUT......If you really dont want to go to bed at 7 or want some private time....ask for extra blankets and pile them up in the bath tub and put the baby in there......as long as the water isnt running or the kid can turn it on.....you should be good that way.....At least you know the baby cant roll out of it!!! LOL

Most WDW hotels have Pack N Plays as the "crib". I believe that you can request a real crib, but it's not a guarantee.

That works until the tub faucet gets a leak!

We stayed at POFQ in July and the pack n play (what Disney resorts provide) wouldn't fit in the bathroom. There is a curtain that divides the sink area from the rest of the room. If your baby is young enough just pulling the curtain and keeping the volume down would probably work. But if you've got a toddler I'm afraid it'll likely be no dice.

Okay, I'm just curious... what happens if you have to go to the bathroom? Doesn't that wake the baby up?

You could do what the people next to us did. They took the table and chairs outside and sat outside while they waited for their kids to fall asleep. It looked like they were having a good time with their snacks, beverages, and a deck of cards....

We took our DS when he was 7 months and rented a crib from ABBF. We were able to put that in the closet area behind the curtain and it worked pretty well. We are going back in a month and he'll be 21 months. We are planning on putting the hotel provided pack and play behind the curtain....hope it works well this time too!

That's our plan but I'm not sure how well its going to work. My boys don't share a room at home and I can just imagine how much distruction there could be when we come back in ;)

My backup plan is to exhaust them so much at the parks that they can't keep their eyes open.

We were going to do the same thing last year, no luck!! I don't think it will work for you, unfortunately!! good luck!!:goodvibes

OP, here:

I’m going to bring some large safety pins if we need to hang a heavier blanket to help muffle sound.

I am also thinking about buying an inexpensive white noise machine. He is a pretty sound sleeper but now that he is more active (15 months) he has a hard time drifting off to sleep when there is a sudden sound. Thinking the constant stream of sound will help reduce the likelihood of him being startled.

If he can't sleep with sudden sounds, don't put him in the bathroom, as the toilet flushing/shower sounds from all the other bathrooms next door, above/below your bathroom will be heard in your bathroom as clear as day.

We stayed at POR, and there is no way you'd fit a pack-n-play in the bathroom. It is very small. Maybe the area by the sink though, but even then, it's pretty tight.

A noise machine is a good idea. We used to use one with our boys when they were little, and it worked well.

Good luck! That is one part of traveling with little ones that I'm glad we're not dealing with anymore. Now that our kids are older, they stay up later than we do!

You're joking right? If the baby is that small that he/she can't turn on the water, than laying them on blankets like that is a no no. Older than that, they can probably figure out the water. That sounds like a disaster waiting to happen and I hope no one seriously tries this.

Expect the unexpected. I planned on sectioning off DS with a shower curtain hanging from the closet area in the pack and play. No luck! Ds 16 months ended up sleeping in bed with us the whole trip. It was either that or no sleep for anyone on our floor. But in the end it really didn't matter because it was the best family vacation ever!

I was a little worried how we were going to do with 3 kids in one room at POP and that DH & I would be so bored, but honestly we just went to sleep. Even in the afternoon. We usually went to a park in the morning and then came back around noon, ate lunch, and ALL took a nap. My kids were 9, 4, and barely 2. The older ones hadn't taken a nap since they were infants, but we shut off the lights, got in bed, and passed out. We got up and went back to a park for a few hours. We left the park about 8:30, got showered and ate some snacks and were ready for bed by 9:30-10:00. We all went right to sleep.

People would think I'm crazy to say we had a relaxing time at Disney, but we really did. A park for a few hours here and there and more sleep than we've ever had in our lives.

This is exactly what I am thinking. If they are too small to get to the faucet it is not safe and toddler+ access to hot water= burn unit

This is what the wife and I did at our last stay at POP. Due to our schedule at home, our kids go to bed early and rise early. We put them to bed and dragged chairs our front and sat watching the lake and the ducks and bunnies. We had a bottle of wine and cards or magazines/books.
