There we were, waiting for the SoundSational Parade outside the Alice Bathrooms on Sunday evening. Two of us went off to secure some churros, while the other two held our places. A DL CM, dressed in white shirt and shorts and with a custodial patch and CM tag on his shirt (from the UK, according to that) started chatting up the two who were waiting. He inquired about where they were from, brought up something about Democrats vs. Republicans, Gun Laws, and same-sex marriage, all rather “innocently.” My friends started feeling a bit uneasy, as he came in pretty close to their faces while talking, and he shortly thereafter moved on to some other folks. During the parade, he stood off to the side behind some ropes watching, and after the parade reeled in the same ropes. Clearly, he worked there, but even though he was dressed as a janitor he never had a broom/dustpan that most of the custodians in the park carry around. We definitely kept him in the corners of our eyes during the whole parade.
I understand if Disney places “plainclothes” people around parade routes, but bringing up hot-button issues with the guests (in the hopes of seeing if we had any pent-up rage about a particular subject, perhaps?) seemed a bit untoward.
Any thoughts about this?
