Creepiest movie you have seen?

I avoid movies that I think are going to be creepy, so the logical choices are automatically ruled out for me.

Probably the creepiest movie I've ever seen was Changeling with Angelina Jolie. I was so affected by that movie that I had a hard time sleeping for several days.

The first time I saw A Nightmare on Elm Street, I was honestly afraid that I was psychologically damaged by it. I could NOT sleep and I was a mess!! One night when I was FINALLY able to fall asleep, my dad came in my room in the middle of the night to tell me mom was sick and he was taking her to the ER. All I remember was opening my eyes and seeing FREDDY standing there, hat and all!! I screamed and thrashed and totally freaked out. My poor dad - he was a wreck over my mom and here I was, totally losing my mind. He was standing in my doorway, lit from behind by the hallway nightlight and my coat rack was right behind him, with my hat on it... totally gave the illusion of Freddy. I never told him why I freaked out because I was afraid I'd never be allowed to watch a scary movie again!

Nowadays, creeping me out is much harder. I'd have to say Jeepers Creepers did give me the creeps as well as Hellraiser (and not in a good way - I hate that movie).

Movies that creeped me out in a FUN way are:

Devil
The Sixth Sense
IT
The Ring

House of 1,000 Corpses - I haven't been the same since! New level of scary!

Buried - not exactly sure if it's "creepy" but it's very intense, scary...

Hellraiser

Love love love horror movies:lovestruc

I'll hijack a bit and throw in Harper's Island TV series. THAT was good.

If anyone likes old style haunted house movies, try to see the original version of The Haunting. It's pretty amazing.

I love Jeepers Creepers. There's also one called Vacancy that some might find creepy.

1. SILENT HILL gave me nightmares for weeks
2. THE STRANGERS i was jumpy for a while after and when the strangers finished their task it really bother me how "slow" it was.... trying to not spoil it for anyone
3. THE HILLS HAVE EYES made me vomit and i refuse to watch it again

Sybil isn't a horror movie, but it really disturbed me. We watched it in Ab Psych when I was 20. 15 years later, and I have vivid memories of that film.

Seven

I remember walking out the theater after it was over and everyone had this solemn and creeped-out looks on their faces - me included.

If I come across it while surfing, I surf faster.

I think that movie turned me off to that kind of movie altogether.

This was my experience with Seven. You know how everyone is talking and chatting after a movie? Not this one. Everyone was just trying to get out the theater.

I used to love scary movies, but no more. Now I can't watch a scary movie without having nightmares for weeks.

When I was fond of scary movies I loved:

The Ring, The Grudge, Sixth Sense, and Scream. I also loved The Birds and Rear Window.

I am going to go to see Scream IV. I have to-I loved all the others and I really want to see how they work this "new generation" thing. I feel bad for whomever has the unfortunate luck to sit next to me, though. I tend to scream like a little girl when I am scared.

Oh yes, I have to say IT (the mini series) was one of those that just scared the living terror out of me. I seriously think Stephen King created a whole generation of kids that watched that movie and are now scared of clowns.

Pet Semetary. It was the last scary/creep movie I have ever seen. It truly scared the bejeezus out of me. I had to sleep with the light on forever-and I was I think in my 20's or close to it. I'm pretty sure I could've used some therapy after that movie.

Duel with Dennis Weaver. No gore, blood or real violence. I saw it when I was in 8th grade and it scared the crap out of me. Later I learned it was Steven Spielberg's first movie (he was like 22 years old at the time).

Blair Witch Project. It probably would not have effected me so much, but we went camping the following weekend and scared ourselves silly just thinking about it.

I can't watch that movie- the flashback scenes are horrible. That poor woman!!

That movie and book freaked me out. I hope that little boy who played Gage doesn't remember making the movie. Talk about needing therapy- yikes!!

Oh, I almost forgot this one - Audition. It's right up there with the creepiest movies ever. It's a Japanese movie. I bought it, watched it once, and was so freaked out that I got rid of the dvd, knowing I would never be able to watch it again. This movie totally shocks on every level. The first half plays out like a romantic comedy about a widower who works in the film industry. He sets up an audition that several actresses try out for. They don't know that he is really auditioning them because he is lonely and is looking to find a significant other. It's all very cute until he picks the girl he likes best. Needless to say, he chooses poorly. This leads into the absolute horror and terror of the second half of the film. It truly is one of the sickest and creepiest movies out there.

I love scary movies but Hostel really creeped me out. It really distrubed me and I refused to watch the 2nd one. I still get chills thinking about it.:scared1:

Oprah's Beloved. I went into that movie thinking "Oprah" "Color Purple"...boy, was I wrong. I had to fast-forward through many scenes...the supernatural aspects were unsettling.

I'm not a big fan of scary movies because . . . well, they scare the bejeezus out of me.

The other day I was channel surfing as usual [a dangerous occupation] and I came upon Jeepers Creepers. :scared1: I was so scared, yet unable to turn the channel, that I was literally breathing hard.

We love Jeepers Creepers, JC2 is ok. DD13 has both of these on DVD.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose :scared1::scared1::scared1:

Shutter Island....loved it, but was creeped out the entire time :thumbsup2

The Ring...one of my favorite movies of all time

I flat out refuse to see The Exorcist...You couldn't PAY me to watch that sucker! :rotfl:

It's been a couple of months, but DD13 and DS16 sat down and watched this with DH and I. DH let them pick out the movie we were gonna watch. I HATE, HATE, HATE this movie. Creeps the hell outta me. I will only watch it with the lights on, so I had to hold my flashlight, because according to DH the kids needed to get the whole effect of the movie by watching it in the dark. Whatever!!!

By the end of it, both of them were looking at me like I was nuts for being creeped out by this movie. Didn't faze them in the least. Punks!!

House of 1,000 Corpses - I haven't been the same since! New level of scary!

Buried - not exactly sure if it's "creepy" but it's very intense, scary...

Hellraiser

I'll hijack a bit and throw in Harper's Island TV series. THAT was good.

I am on a mission to find these on DVD without ordering on line. I know Wal-Mart had the first one out back around Halloween, but I just never got around to picking one up. Poltergeist is the other one I am looking for. I know DD will love these movies.

Omg the scene where the girl is going down the stairs backwards in exorcist really creeped me out!
For me creepy its more about individual scenes than entire movies.

"look at me Damien, it's all for you"

The girl pulling herself up out of that well in "The ring"

The kid going down the stairs backwards in "The Exorcist"

The kid Cutting someone's achilles tendon in in "Pet Semetary"

Bunny scene in Fatal Attraction.

One isn't even a horror movie but the scenes where Commodus makes advances towards his sister
Lucilla in "Gladiator" are too creepy for words.

this thread has given me some stuff to drop into my Netflix for Halloween

Never seen it but I just had this discussion with friends the other night...they said When a Stranger Calls was really freaky.

For me...

Primal Fear's freaky ending
Single White Female - boyfriend scene at the end
Blair Witch Project - guy standing in the corner at the very end
Nightmare on Elm Street - no more baths for me, showers ONLY (I just knew his claw hand was going to come up and get me)

Nightmare on Elm Street - no more baths for me, showers ONLY (I just knew his claw hand was going to come up and get me)

Glad I wasn't the only one! I wouldn't go swimming in our pool at night either...:scared1:

Trainspotting (not horror, but there is a scene which disturbs me to this day).

The original Exorcist of course.;)

Everything else, eh. There might be a scene that freaks me out but the whole movie no.

"Paranormal Activity" when she is standing over him as he sleeps...that is pretty creepy.

Oh me too! I was so afraid I would wake up and see that guy standing by my bed, or that Zelda was going to come after me! Took me a long time to get over that one. Even now I will not watch it if its on TV.

And Amityville Horror scared me too - I was afraid to look out the window cause I was afraid of seeing red pig eyes :scared1:!
