I may have to cancel my trip to Disney but have already book my flight with SW. I talked to a representative that told me to NOT SHOW up for the flight and my account would be credited. Is this true or should I call back for another rep?

Call and cancel, they will issue you a credit for the cost fo the tickets that you have one year to use (from the date you originally booked). Don't just not show up, I would think they would just treat that as a no show and not refund anything to you.

I wouldn't chance a "no-show" and losing your $$. If you know now that you have to cancel, I would do it over the phone with SW or via their website.

Yup, I agree. A couple of years ago we flew SW to Orlando, and my husband ended up buying a new truck 2 days before our flight back. I called SW and told the girl that he would not be able to make the flight (didn't go as far as saying he was driving his truck up to NY), and it was no problem at all. We were issued a credit for his fare and one year from the original purchase to use it. I wouldn't take the chance of just not showing up, in fact I think there is something in the SW literature that says you may forfeit your fare (or something like that). They might not enforce it, but why take the chance?
On another note, it would be nice to give them notice. After all, someone may need that flight and not be able to get it because a seat is reserved for someone who doesn't show up. I'm surprised the agent told you to do that. :confused3

I was told by SWA a year ago that if you don't show up for your flight, your account will be credited. I think (?) their policy also states that you must be at the gate 10 minutes before the flight and if not, then they don't have to honor your ticket. Perhaps this is why they'll credit your account if you don't show up???

Nonetheless, I'd call to cancel out of courtesy.
