Credit or Loss?

I found out this evening that our party of 7 might possibly be a party of 8. I'm really excited about this 8th person coming along, but unfortunately she won't know for sure if she will be able to join us until about a month before the trip.

The real dilemma is ADR's and park tickets. We are paying OOP for meals - no dining plan for us. I figured when we're able to set our ADR's, I'll go ahead and reserve for 8. However there are certain meals that I apparently (and please correct me if I'm wrong) have to pay for when I book the restaurant (MBYBBQ, Hoop Dee Doo, and CRT). If something happens and the 8th person can't come, will we receive that money back for her meal and her park tickets, or do we lose that?

I did this in july booked for 9 but ended up with 8, I called about 2 weeks before 1 time changed by 15 minutes everything else stayed the same. I gave credit card but did not have any prepaid reservations but I am pretty sure everything is a 24 hr cancelation

I would do the ADRs for 8 and then just cancel the extra off the month before if she can't go.

I wouldn't get park tickets unless you know for sure she's going.

I would make the ADR for 8 and cancel. Its easier than trying to add a person to the ADR.

As far as tickets I get mine from Undercover Tourist they have the best deals and you can order the other person at least a week in advance and still get them delivered to your home in time for the trip.


Also keep in mind that most parties of 8 means that most places with automatically add the tip to your bill.

I have a similar dilemma. We are a party of 11, possible 12. I booked everything for a party if 12. For prepaid meals, just ask to speak to a manager and they will credit the missing person back. Yes they will add the auto tip. I have to talk to a manager at prepaid locations because of my TIW discount, so I figured its no big deal.
UT is your best ticket option. Will this be your only trip to WDW? If nori would just buy the ticket. If she comes, great. If not you have one less ticket to buy next time.
