Okay I have a predicament. I just realised that we have pretty much maxed out our Credit Card and we still have the rest of the wedding to pay for:guilty: we had a lot of unexpected things come up, like Vet bills and I didn't realise we had spent so much.
So I have a question. We have another CC that is in credit and has been for 14 months but has been unused. We called yesterday and the guy said the CC had expired and he would have to despatch a new one. As far as I am aware he has done that today but it takes 5-10 working days for it to arrive. Now I'm panicing, we leave in 14 days and with the postage strikes I'm nervous. We asked about a balance transfer from our maxxed out Credit Card to the one in credit but he said the only way we could do it was to send the bank giro credit in the post and it takes 7-10 working days. Does anyone know if this is accurate? I am so worried, as long as the Credit Card comes we are fine, but if it's delayed it will be too late.

Thanks

Most CC companies take a balance transfer over the phone, although there may be a 3% or similar fee along with a % rate but maybe 0% if you are lucky for a few months. Give them a call again and ask what offers they are giving for a balance transfer.

Claire ;)

Or you could get a temporary overdraft and then swop to your credit card:thumbsup2 if the card doesnt come in time

Will the credid card company not raise your limit? I maxed my card paying for our holiday to get double miles, but phoned them and explained I needed the limit raised and they were o.k (and I don't earn a fortune, so it was done with baited breath) then when you come back transfer to 0%. :thumbsup2

We also advise whatever cards we are currently using that we will be abroad and to expect extra spending, that way there is less chance of them being refused if they suspect unusual useage.

{{{GULP}}} Credit card maxed out!!! I'd be a bit scared at that...

Post strikes are on hold at the moment, both sides are meeting again on 4th September (I think! - saw a poster in the Post Office) so you should be OK time wise for that.

she got married in Disney yesterday:bride:, so hopefully she was sorted before she left. She didn't post much before she went as she sounded sooo busy.

I saw that poster too, but I hadn't noticed any disruption for a week or so anyway, thank goodness.
