Is it the norm now to ask for a credit card number when making a PS now?? I know it's been mentioned here before that they've been thinking about doing something about the "no shows" for PS. Today DH got PS for CRT and was asked to give a credit card and told we would be charged $5/child and $10/adult if we didn't cancel/show. Is it just for harder to get PS or is it with them all now???

CRT ressies are usually completely booked on the same day booking begins so they started charging a no-show fee a while back--CRT is one of the hardest(if not the hardest) PS ressie to get at WDW.

I made PS ressies today for Chef Mickey's, Sci-Fi, and RFC and did not give a credit card number for any of them.

I also made a PS for CRT and was asked for my credit card #. I believe this started last June and they would charge your card ($10/$5) if you didn't show/cancel.

Well, I got my credit card bill and guess what? I was already charged $30 (2 adults & 12 yr old). I called WDWDINE to ask if this was correct. I was told this was recently changed and they do charge the deposit to your card after you book. The deposit is deducted from your bill at the restaurant, and you owe the balance. You may pay the balance by cash or charge.

:D

Yes, for CRT, they do charge your credit card at time of booking. This should have been explained to you when making the PS.

I'm so glad that they don't do this at all of the restraurants. I do know that they do ask for a CC when making PS for holidays (mother's day, thanksgiving, etc). Though some may not like this procedure, it looks like it is really helping folks get into CRT. I remember reading threads where it was impossible. Now, still a struggle, but have read so many threads where folks now get in. But it does seem to be tougher and tougher to get dinner PS for Chef Mickey's.
