Credit card at check-in?

I'm a little concerned about the security of my credit card information after checking in. If I'm a DVC member staying on points, do I need to leave a credit card at check-in? I'm planning to bring cash for my meals so I don't know that I would be charging anything to my room.

I left one and they didn't register it. DH went to buy food at AKV and no CC added on. Ugh. Luckily, he was just at the pool area trying to eat and had not gone to the parks with no cash!!

We have not used a credit card upon check-in in many many years.

Add us to the list of those who never leave a CC# at check in. There really is no need. It's just as easy to use your own CC as it is to use a room key and THEN pay with the CC.

We don't like leaving a cc either but when we checked into AKV the CM at the desk said we had to due to the fact it was not our home resort. :confused3 This sounded weird to me but I gave it to him anyway and told him we did not want it put onto our room key. Found out later that he did it anyway and several times our tips at the restaurants were being charged to our room. DH had to ask them to kindly remove it so we could pay our tips with cash. Since we were also doing the DDP we found a few meals had been charged to our room instead of using our credits. It was a real mess. We now absolutely refuse to give them our cc when we check in. If they insist we ask to speak to a manager.
