I have only flown once in the past 15 years or so. I do not recall if they need to see the credit card that we charged the tickets on when we check in?
That credit card is missing so chase is going to change our account number. Will this cause any issue when traveling? Our trip is not until 6 months from now.

Nope. They don't look at it. Many people use others credit cards to buy their tickets. For example I often buy my older kids' tickets and we have different names. No way am I giving them my credit card when they travel!

The original credit card is no longer needed. Many corporate travel agents pay for tickets for their staff with a business card that the employee will not carry with them.

However, you will want a credit card in your name for the check-in process, though. Most airlines use a dumb terminal that pulls your itinerary, prints your boarding pass, and pay for luggage. You can either slide a credit card (of any sort) or type in your confirmation number or name onto the screen to tell the system who you are. Sliding a card is by far the easiest of the three, and will be required for bag fees.

Also, most amenities purchased on-board (food, alcohol, movies, etc) require a credit card for the transaction.

The credit card company is sending out cards with new number, so no problem with having a card. Was just worried about the card number not matching the number the tickets were purchased on. Thanks.

All the pp's are correct, especially nowadays with electronic boarding passes and self-serve kiosks, it's just not practical at all. When we fly carry on only, we never even see an airline rep until the gate. Most airline web sites still have that information posted, though. :confused3
