I'm super excited. Just booked our 1st Disney cruise. My kids love cruising and have been asking to go on a Disney cruise. They are willing to give up their bday parties/gifts to go on a Disney cruise. I haven't told them yet but I want to get them small gifts for the announcement. Any creative ideas on revealing the cruise?

Possible idea:

Make them Mickey pancakes for breakfast. Mickey/Disney Cars sandwiches for lunch. Followed by a character call inviting them on the cruise.

I wouldn't tell them until you get to the airport/get in the car. Give them their tags to go on their bags or something. Convince them that you're going to see Aunt Marge in Schenectady for a week until you reveal as you're about to leave the driveway.

I'm way too excited and I can't wait to share my excitement with them:)

You and yours are going to have a wonderful time. However you decide to reveal the cruise, I'm sure it will be magical and unforgettable. Congratulations and have a blast!

Do an around the house hunt. Place clues at breakfast:
Have the kids running all over the house looking for the next one
If you have at least two floors, watching them going up and down looking for the clues are fun
If more than one kid, have them split up to find different clues that they have to be put together for the final answer.

For our last cruise we celebrated 100 Days Until We Cruise and I surprised my kids with Mickey pancakes for breakfast, special Mickey treats in their cold lunches, and then when they got home from school we had our own pirate night. It was so much fun and my kids (who are all teenagers!) still talk about how fun that day was. I had little gift bags from them and then the final gift was a gift card to use as spending money on the cruise. It took a lot of planning on my part, but TOTALLY worth it!

We have done Disney several times and have surprised our kids for each one. Our last to Disney, we asked the flight attendant to announce it on the plane into Orlando. Which was pretty awesome.

This time NO ONE knows in my house but me. I can't figure out when/how to tell my husband or when/how to tell the kids. Everyone thinks we are driving into Seattle for a science camp. I will have to tell my husband a few days before we go, he will surely notice the luggage plus I am not good at packing his dressy clothing.

I am leaning towards telling the kids we are going to FL to visit the beach, the space center, and maybe a day in Disney. Then drive up to the port. Also our room level is a surprise, and all scheduled activities. So even if I spill the cruise the week will be surprise.

Now I wished I would have kept my mouth shut and surprised my son with our second cruise next year. But he will be 15 so I am sure I wouldnt get the reaction of a young kid!

We gave clues leading around the house. At each clue was a letter. At the end, my 10 year old had to unscramble the letters til he came up with "Alaska Disney Cruise". Took a while, but so fun. Once he figured out Disney, it went quickly. :)

If you can keep it a secret until you arrive in the FL airport, I always thought it would be cute to pick up your baggage and tell the kids we have to grab something out of one of the suitcases. Then open it and have a bunch of disney stuff on top. Like a princess dress, mouse ears, etc. With a big sign, WE'RE GOING TO Disney!

It definately depends on your kids. Since they already love cruising, they will be super excited when they find out. Google surprise disney vacation, and you will find a TON of ideas. Happy cruising!

Our kids know we are going on a DCL cruise to Alaska in 2016 and they know we are going to seattle first and will have two vancouver days as well. What they don't know is that we are going to fly to LA from YVR for a few days at DL after. We are thinking we might not say anything....fly to lax from yvr (that won't tip them off because we are on the east coast so flights wouldn't be direct anyway.). Then, I'm thinking of getting a car service (a limo would be just awesome, but $$$ is a factor) from lax andwrting them know on the way. We mix up trips they know about and surprises. We are ging to DC/md/va in Early summer and they know about it, but they don't know that later in the summer we are going to Universal and Disney (they think April was our last wdw trip for awhile.). Haven't figured out his to reveal that yet!

We are sailing in January for our FIRST Disney cruise. Right now, I am leaning towards telling my kids at Christmas, with their gifts all being geared towards the cruise, but I haven't decided yet. I do love the idea of just showing up at the port (we are within a 8 hour drive) and just saying "surprise". They recognize the way to Disney World, so it would throw them off a bit to drive to the port. I don't think they would have a clue! But mine are young enough that if I tell them we are leaving in X amount of days, I would still have to hear "is it time yet" a million times!
