We have a friend, early 50’s, semi-retired, & she lives on a fairly tight budget.
For the last year or so, she has been going away for several days a month to “touristy” areas. I’ve been quite surprised by these trips because I know how thrifty she has to be!
My friend recently returned from a 2 week stay in a lovely townhome very close to WDW (she had a great time!) & said she is going back for another 2 weeks in February.
Well, she finally decided to spill the beans as to how she has been affording all of this travel.
House/pet sitting.
Apparently, she signed up with a couple of reputable sites that match folks wanting to travel to different areas, with people looking for house or pet sitters. In exchange for watering plants or in this last case, caring for one kitty, she receives free accomodations.
I just wanted to share for those who may long to get away, but perhaps don’t have the budget to do so. This plan is working great for her, & she can vacation for very little money! Smart!

Do you have the name or website for this agency? It would be interesting to see how this works!

I would have to look around my computer - so many bookmarks! - but I remember having done some research on this a couple of years ago. There are a couple of sites - some for home exchange and others that deal with pet sitting.

The pet one is trustedsitter - it is not free but worth it if it works for your travel needs. They do background checks.
I dont remember the home exchange one but it was worldwide and works really well if you live somewhere people actually want to go for vacation. We live in the Vail area- 5-10 minute walk to the bottom of the mountains - so we could get some good exchanges, but I am way too paranoid ;)
