DD 1st bday is coming up next month and I am thinking of serving cupcakes instead of a sheet cake. Has anyone done this in the past and how was it? Since it's the first bday I'm not worried about blowing out the candle. I a also looking for cute ideas, disney and non-disney. If you ahve any pictures could you post them. I found a vintage Disney b-day invite clipart online and am going with that. I believe that it has the fab5. Thanks.

You might try looking on familyfun.com they usually have fun cupcake ideas. Good luck, first B-day's are so fun. :Pinkbounc

My niece's first bday cake was a pink teddy bear done with cupcakes. Any of the bakeries are starting to do this now and publix has baby's first cake that is a small round cake for them to destroy :)

These sound good.

Ideas my second or third birthday I had a cookie monster cake with a cookie in his mouth. You could do a cupcake version with the smaller mini cookies like chips ahoy. You could do white icing and put edible glitter on it as pixie dust. For some non Disney (gasp) you could do a lady bug (red icing then use haves of chocolate wafers for head and wings), flower basket (a flower on the cupcake and then use a licorice vine as a handle, Birds nest with jelly belly eggs. Or even a cupcake decorated like a birthday cake use small pieces of candy or licorice vine as candles. Sounds like fun. I need to think start thinking of my son’s first bday party. Thanks for getting me started. :wave2:
