creating ride with slide pieces

I know I'm really late in this but I just now got around to trying to put these ride pieces together from the slide a thon. Am I the only one finding this a real PITA? I am understanding that many people are using crates, palm trees, or other props to make the pieces align together. Personally I'm not so sure it's even worth it for me to buy a bunch of props just to get the ride pieces symmetrical but I would like to hear any tips you have on putting these pieces together without too much hooplah or frustration.

LOL Yeah, they can be a bit of a pain, until you get used to them. Think in terms of a staircase. Each slide piece is a step on that staircase, which means you need a riser for each step. Start the first piece at ground level. Put the second piece on a crate, or palm trunks. Put the third piece on two stacked crates or two stacked palm trunks, etc. Does that help at all? Do the opposite for the down staircase.
Hope that helps somewhat.
Good luck and have fun!

the dead man's chests are free when you play the off site POTC game, They make great supports for the slides!

...Except that nothing is the right height for each step to line up other than the the palm tree trunks and the Blizzard Beach rocks. If your second step is set on... oh say... a blue trunk, then your slide pieces will have a bump where they meet.

Or rather... don't meet?

How hard would it be for them to pick some standard heights to make stackable objects so that it is easier to build with them?

Yeah, this sounds like something I'm just going to skip altogether. If it's that much work I'm not even interested in building a ride. I had so much of that free pirate stuff but I sold it all off and now I'm so burnt out on getting those codes that just the thought of doing that again doesn't appeal to me.

It looks like I just have a lot of slide pieces for trade now. I'll be one of the only people with a TL and BB room just for chilling out with no ride I guess.

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I have the palm bases and rocks and I can't get the slide pieces on them to line up!! How do you get them up on the props and still line up together? :confused3

Well, see..here's the thing. If you are using two different props, they won't line up. :( Don't know why vmk would do that to us, but they did. The only way I could get the slides to line up was to use all palm tree trunks.

Hmmmm....well, that helps. But, the first piece I try to connect that goes up doesn't seem to connect! :rotfl: When my character tries to ride, they stop where that up piece joins the straight piece.

*sigh* I am water slide challenged! :teeth:

It sound like your straight piece may be going the wrong way. These are tricky at first. I would be completely lost if a very kind someone who is now a good friend had not wandered in to offer the amazing gift of help one afternoon.

If you need someone to show you how to see the pieces fitting together I would be more than happy to swing by and spend some time with you. I am not any near as great at designing rides as some, but I can help you understand how they "fit" together to work properly.

Let me know if you want help and when to find you. My in game title is Jegrezo.

Ok, I finally got it figured out. DS had to help me!

You have to have a base support for each of the "legs" under the up or down pieces.....that means 2 base supports for each piece. We had to experiment with the base supports as they went up and went down as you have to graduate the grade on both up and down. Then, to get the slide pieces to go up in the air (on top of the supports), you drag/move the slide piece over to the area you want it at and then put your cursor at the bottom (base) of each support and, oddly, that makes it jump on top of the piece your cursor is touching.

Putting a small slide together has been an educational and bonding experience for us both.....we won't mention my cursing anywhere in here! :rolleyes1

Uh, yeah. That sounds about right. :) Congrats on your success!
