Create your own cross-stitch patterns

Has anyone used one of those programs where you create your own cross-stitch pattern. I'm thinking about getting one, but would like to know if it assigns the color thread to use or if I have to figure that out.

I used PC Stitch for one of my patterns. When you import the picture that you want to use it will assign colors to it automatically, but it also allows you to adjust colors if you need to. It was fairly easy, and I think the finished project looked pretty good.

Thanks Stitch!! I am hoping to design a frame to stitch for my Dad for Christmas!! It sounds like the program is exactly what I need!
