Create your own concierge lounge

I'm loving this thread. We've been reading lots of concierge posts for fun and I've been teasing DH that I AM his concierge staff when we go on vacation! LOL. I make our PS, plan, buy and serve snacks, buy souvenirs and write postcards. We love buying special vacation snacks to use on our trip. Things we normally don't buy on a day to day basis. The OP makes a GREAT point. Just think of all the GREAT Disney treats you can splurge on while staying in a non-concierge room! THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE POST!

I did not say grocery shop! I am talking about buying great things around Walt Disney World, not stuff you can get anywhere! However, I will go offsite to get oranges from Orange World on Hwy 192. The cost of concierge is not really a factor to me. I just think it could be fun to use that money to get buy things that I would like to eat.

Some of us can't afford not to put a price on convenience. Our family could not afford to go to Disney if our vacation was all about convenience and luxury. Our vacations are all about family and fun. We afford to go by being careful with our money. Picking up a few snacks is not a big deal. It is not grocery shopping. I agree with the OP. I think conceirge is over rated and over priced. I am sure Disney is happy that some people don't agree with that. How else would they make more money on some snacks and juice that could easily be picked up by their guests at a grocery stop?

I just found out that Albertson's on S. Orange Blossom Trail allows you to fax in an order ahead & then its packed & waiting for you at whatever time you tell them. We're renting a car but didn't want to either make the kids sit through a grocery shop or be locked into a time for one of those grocery delivery services. I'm hoping this is a good way to stock our personal concierge room.

Did you know that you can these, all year round? Not the Mickey head krispy treats, but all the other shapes....and the huge choclate covered ones!

Selma's

This is the bakery that makes them for WDW...so you can have a little taste of Disney at home! :teeth:

DH and I always do this. My one secret indulgence every Disney trip - a mimosa every morning! My mother would die if she knew I was drinking champagne (but the oj crosses out the alcohol right? :earboy2: ) at 8am - but it's vacation. We also always bring along Godiva chocolates - anything milk chocolate with caramel, raspberry, strawberry, - yum! - and real Brie cheese that my friend sends me.

What a great idea! Here are some treats I would add to the list:

--Raspberry/chocolate/white chocolate cookie from Goofy's Candy Co. at Downtown Disney (easily the best cookie I have ever had--oh so decadent!)

--Chocolate dipped pretzel from Germany Pavilion at Epcot

--Godiva chocolate squares (you could even put these on your pillow like concierge does with turn down service, LOL)

--Mickey rice krispie treat with chocolate dipped ears

We do enjoy the convenience and pampering of the concierge when we can fit it in the budget, but this is a SUPER idea for when the budget is smaller.

OK, here's what I am putting on the table so far. We are going to Epcot first so I can get most of it there.

fresh orange juice and fruit
caramel apples from main street confectioners
fruit tulips from fountainview bakery (my FAVORITE)
kringlas from bakery in Norway pavillion
Chocolate covered Mickey Pretzels covered in white/milk chocolate!
Marshmallows on a stick...dipped in chocolate, rolled in nuts!
Mickey and character shaped CHOCOLATES...filled with delicious things like fudge and caramel!
Hand-dipped long-stem Chocolate strawberries!!
cinnamon coated, roasted almonds and pecans!!
FUDGE!
Thin red-rope or shoe string licorice!
Mickey Mouse Character GUMMIES!
Giant cinnamon rolls on the boardwalk bakery!
Big RICE KRISPY TREATS...dipped in chocolate
Raspberry/chocolate/white chocolate cookie from Goofy's Candy Co. at Downtown Disney (easily the best cookie I have ever had--oh so decadent!)
Chocolate dipped pretzel from Germany Pavilion at Epcot

I need some more ideas- what about things that are not sweet?
