So I joined WW because my company paid for it. I have not attened in years but was able to do the diet on my own and maintain my weight fairly well.

NOW it is not a diet but a " life style change" blah blah blah. What upset me was that they try to sell you things like used car salesmen telling us that we would be more successful if we purchased them. Like a start up kit for 75.00! AHH my insurance just paid you 156.oo so I could come and be weighed in don't you think you should give me more than a number on a scale? If I had wanted a tupperware party I would have hosted one!

I decided that since the Winning Points Diet ALWAYS worked for me and each new incarntion of WW is based pretty much on the same thing I was going to just do WP and then go for the weigh in and lecture. I lost my points slider! IN the past I had found a website where you could print and make your own points slider? I have searched and searched but still cannot find this site. Anyone know what it is?

I have a friend who works for WW and she told me that the POINTS PLUS and now the Points Plus 360 was not the success that they had hoped. SO rather than waste my time I am going with the one that is tried and true.

$75 startup kit? What was in it? I know nothing in our meeting that costs that much. I got a startup kit for about $35? Big semi-ugly soft case, some books in it that proved to be surprisingly good, measuring tape, soft, collapsible measuring cups that help DH out tremedounsly as he travels for work and they don't take up much space... Well worth it, even though I don't like the aesthetics of the case.

I don't know where people get that. I see lots of success in my meeting, and I see people NOT quitting. This is quite different from when I did it in '00-'01, early early '03 through August '03, and then mid '04 to the following year when I quit (again). Obviously I was one of the quitters b/c it just did NOT feel sustainable to me. I mean, 18 points per day? Counting fruits and veggies? UGH.

I believe Winning Points was the last one I belonged to and oh wow did I hate that program. Could not stick to it. Cheated on it ALL the time. I don't remember if you had to count fruits/veggies with that, but the plans that did require that..I would routinely say "this cookie is 2 points, this banana is 2 points...cookie it is!"

I had success with the first plan I used...I had success with the 2nd (though we cheated ALL the time...back to the cookie scenario...DH once had an entire day's points in Russian Tea Cakes that I had made)...I could say I had success with the 3rd, but I'd had a baby and went back when he was 2 weeks old and I'd already lost 25 lbs and wanted "credit". I lost 9 lbs the first week back. It was great, but it wasn't because of WW, LOL.

THIS time, starting at the age of 42, I'm having fabulous success, it feels sustainable, like something I COULD do for life (especially since they actually communicate the concept of getting points back in maintenance AND they communicate the concept that you can use Weeklies and Activity points and it's not a weakness or failure if you use them). It's been over a year and DH and I haven't quit, no one we are friends with in class has quit. It's awesome.

I had the same thoughts...I'll do the plan from 2000 because it was great. But I had no slider. So I gave this one a try (by the way 360 is no different than Points Plus...it's just extra emotional/life-happens sort of support, and I HIGHLY recommend the book in the kit in the funky bag/case) and I'm SO glad I did.

And you are so tremendously lucky that your company pays for it! I'm not sure what cost $156 for, since at least the other day there was no signup fee, but all DH's company will pay for are gym memberships at places we don't have here and Jenny Craig.

I say do the plan they have and see how it goes!

alas I don't know where to get or recreate a slider.

If you have a smart phone, there are a ton of ww apps that calculate & track points.

Thanks for you info. I have always had success with the slider. I actually found mine but I think I will TRY the new plan. I do not know what plan gave you 18 points. That is starvation. I got 24 on the old plan and 26 on this plan. If you got 18 points is must have been the points plus. I know I am lucky my company pays but having used WW since Jean Nadich created it I still find that when they spend half a meeting hawking products it is not what it was intened to be.

You must have a really bad group for that. At ours, they have a table out with the things available for purchase, and the meeting leader MIGHT mention if something new is available, but otherwise, they don't try to sell us anything!

I also am loving the new program - before I would always choose junky snacks over fruit, but now I am truly making healthy choices. I'm down 19.6 lbs since Christmas, and doing great!

Yeah, I feel like our meetings are a lot of hawking too, I have to say. I like the leader a lot and she does less of it than the other leader I tried, but it seems so scripted in, hard for them to avoid. I also dislike the "samples". Today they gave me a 3 pt bag of nacho chip/cracker things. I didn't plan on spending 3 pts on that and I didn't even like them. (I did throw them out after 3 or 4, yay me!)

Molly you made me LOL--"cookie it is, then!" I made exactly the same choice over and over on the old plan. I was reluctant to change, but I like this new plan a lot now, especially the free fruit/veg.

And yeah, the start up kit is hellish expensive here too. Are you in Canada? Everything costs more here. :rolleyes2
