I've been checking my booking online to watch PE upgrade prices.... and mine have gone crazy! Last week it was £535 return each to upgrade to PE now its £1,500 and £3,800 for upperclass :scared1: I could have about 3 holidays on that price

all the cheap fare classes sell so the price does go up

I thought since were only a couple of months away they would go down at some point....especially since there are loads of spare seats on my flights (to the point where I thought they were going to combine the two flights leaving that day). I would have thought Virgin would want to make some money and fill them rather then leave them empty....

scheduled airlines dont really work like that they seel the cheap fare classes as they are the cheaper fares and then all that is left are the more flexible fares that cost more.

even upgrades at the airport dont get any cheaper normally

In 2007 they had crazy cheap PE upgrades for our flight (can't remember how much exactly now but it was in double figures) but this was very last minute, as in 2-3 weeks before departure, and also September.

I've read about this on the Dibb I think they were about £150 each :woohoo: and this was recently - I will just keep checking!:)

dont forget it will also depend on the fare conditions of the class you booked as some are not for upgrades etc

Used to work for VA and had alot of queries regarding upgrades

Of course, it could be that there is a time when they have to decide if its financially more viable to sell seats cheaply and have two half filled flights or combine the two and use the aircraft on another route. At that time they may not wish to sell further seats......

They were selling them for 150pp at the airport last september.

We normally have this dilema, don't like the idea of the cost when first booking the flights / holiday but always manage to find some spare cash nearer the time.

We have before amended our booking so that we could upgrade, but our last 2 flights we have upgraded at the airport.

Last Aug we upgraded for £99 pp, this last April it was £150 pp (this is one way), coming home it seems to be slightly cheaper. We have now decided that in future we will take the chance of leaving it until we get to the airport.
