We get in late Friday night and it is tradition for my and my guys to walk down Main Street. Call me crazy but it makes me happy! Anyway, Halloween night MNSSHP is sold out. We just want to go in and ride a couple of rides. Are we crazy? Is the whole day nuts with crowds there? TIA for replies

Have a great trip!

Daytime on party nights are usually better crowd-wise than non-party nights. It will start getting busier after 4 pm though. If you can be happy with 3 FP rides and first day gawking then go for it. Hopefully you have your 3 FP's already as party people can get them after 4.

Here is easyWDW's take on the situation:

The great majority of Disney vacationers would prefer to visit the Parks when the hours are longer because it seems like more time in the Parks equates to higher value for your money. That seems logical considering the cost to enter the Parks is the same, regardless if Magic Kingdom is open from 8am to 1am or 9am to 7pm. However, crowds are so much lower on Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party days that you’ll actually be able to get more done in a shorter amount of time.

We went to MK on a party day, I found the park to be light and often no lines for rides.

This was in September (a sold out party night) but we were able to do a lot of rides during the 4-7 time on a party day. We did BTMRR and PP (had FP's for those though), Small World, Haunted Mansion, People Mover, Buzz and Little Mermaid. We could have done even more if we had skipped Haunted Mansion but we went ahead and waited for it. And we got dinner sometime in there. It may depend on whether you are willing to use up a whole day's ticket for just a few hours.

We always go on party days and never non party days because of crowds. We don't typically stay for the night time activities so non party days don't really benefit us.

They would have from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm.

OK, I'm confused. Do you have party tickets? If not, how will you walk down Main Street? Or are you talking about before 7:00? You mention a "late" Friday night arrival, so I'm not sure I understand.

They are arriving late Friday night. They want to go to MK on Saturday (Halloween,) but are worried that the park will be busy since there is a sold-out party that night.

Ah, duh, thanks for the explanation.

We have hoppers, and we are planning our main MK day (until about 3:30) for a Christmas party day, for the lower crowds. There is only one non-party day during our 4 day visit (Dec 8-11), so we will visit just for parade and Wishes that evening.
