I just priced on WDW a 7 night stay, resort only for 2 adults, 1 6 yo and one 2 yo at the Poly. This is for Dec 3 to 10 2005. The concierge price was 3250.00 and non concierge was 2387.00! And this is value season, right? I read here how booking separate can be cheaper but you obviously need a code or don't book through Disney. I sent them a request for a planning DVD and asked to be put on a list for room codes. I received an email telling me they mailed the DVD but they ignored my code request. I don;t think we are ever going to stay onsite at this rate. At least I have time to plan and decide. But it looks like my Poly dream may not be this year. :sad2:

You dont have to stay at the Poly to stay onsite. Have you looked at the other resorts?

As for codes... Well they seem to be completely random. Asking for one does no good. It is all luck of the draw.

I have been going to Disney World for 26 years (the last 10 as an adult with my the BF, now DH), and I have NEVER gotten a code.

I don't think they take requests to be put on a list for codes, but since you have until December, hang out and wait, you just may get a code. Also keep checking www.mousesavers.com to see if any codes are posted.

I book my trips through Dreams Unlimited, and anytime discounts come up they apply them to my reservation. I don't know if Disney reservations does this but you could ask. You might want to think about locking in your rooms and then waiting to see if codes come out. If you do room only, you only have to give a deposit of one night's stay. Just a thought.

They will never acknowledge a request to be put on the list for codes. i have read that some peoples children have gotten codes! Still, the room only codes for everyone will come out probably 60 days prior to your dates, sometimes 90 days. We were able to secire the winter room only code for our trip last week (it DID include December) for a moderate for $89 a night plus tax, whihc means the Poly code will have a decent discount as well. You will still have to pay for your one nights deposit at rack rate, but then when the code comes out they can apply it to your existing reservation. I have been going for the last 7 years and have never NOT gotten a room code when they come out. Just keep watching as it gets closer this summer. First the fall rates will come out, then the winter.

Disney offers various resorts for various budgets. Codes are nice but there is never a guarantee they will be available. Many of us dream of being able to stay in a deluxe but need to stay elsewhere. I've never been disappointed. Heck, I'm happy to be in Disney. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

I agree with all the good comments from the other posters. You don't need to be one of the lucky ones that receive a postcode or e-mail with code. We made our initial Poly. reservation at rack rate. We just kept watching this board for a public offering room-only code, called once we heard about it, and Disney reservations adjusted our rate. Don't throw out your dream!

For November (Thanksgiving week), I was quoted $1865.38 for a WL standard view room, 7 nights. I was planning to book it with Dreams Unlimited and hope for codes to come out later.

Another alternative is to rent DVC points from a DVC member. It would be 104 pts for a studio and 200 pts for a 1-bedroom. At approx. $10/pt, that's $1040 or $2000, and you'd get a kitchenette or full kitchen.

Just something to think about. Good luck!

I got a pin code for the CR $144.00 for 7/2 and 7/3 this is first code we've ever gotten and it came to my wife. I normally do all the disney stuff in my name so it was so strange to get a postcard to her from disney . But love the rate and can't wait til our stay!! Good luck with your discount!! I've also booked with public codes in the past and done well with them as well. :cool1:

We stayed Poly concierge last Summer and it was very nice :flower: we used the Visa Kids play free package and saved us a bundle. I know everyone here books then waits for codes, but I don't think that's a good idea (ooooooh here comes the flames  ). I wait until the special rates or packages come out then call or go online to book or call a Disney specialist TA (one I can acutally speak to). But, that being said, you can if you would feel better to have your rooms booked early, make a reservation like the other posters said and wait for a code and aply it later: or book at a value and upgrade your ressie. That's always fun :cool1: Are you a AAA member? you get a little discount with AAA. You can't book AAA rates on the disney website you have to call and ask for it. You might try checking if the Poly is available your dates with AAA. It's worth joining b/c of the discounts and everyone needs a little help on the road now and then :teeth:

Last year's code rates for everyone came out at the end of August for the December time period. I'd hold off making plans until later in the year if you have your heart set on the Polynesian. You might be able to get a rate in the low $200s for a garden view. Hopefully you can swing that rate...because it won't get much lower.

Yep, those prices sound about right for value season and yep the Poly is expensive. You pay a lot for it's great location, being on the monorail and of course concierge is more than a regular room. I'd like to stay there too in October but I'm going to watch for better rates also. That said, if I can't get a great deal on Poly concierge, we will still stay onsite somewhere. There are a wide range of prices at the various WDW resorts and to me staying onsite beats staying off any day (done both). If your heart is set on the Poly, perhaps a garden view room without concierge?

Keep watching these boards and mousesavers for public codes, getting an email or postcard isn't something you can request. You're just lucky if it happens.

Hope we both have some good luck! :)

Have everyone in your party sign up for the planning video. I signed up me, my wife and my MIL. Me and my wife got regular emails stating that the planning video would soon be on its way, however my MIL got a similar note but with an email code for the dates of Regular Season: April 17th -July 4th I believe. We are going in June and I put that for all three of the video requests. One question though, has anyone ever booked more then one room with a code and then cancelled the room that the code was for? My MIL is going however plans can change and I would hate to lose my discounted room at CBR ($88 with tax) because she has to back out.
