Crazy question about the TV

Does anyone know if I can hook-up a GameCube to the TV? I have 2 choices on how to do this:
1. Use the red/white connectors that go in as a VCR would
2. Use the standard circular cable connector. (I have an adaptor this allows this.)

What does the connector into the TV look like?

Any thoughts? We are on the 14-day repo cruise in May and I *know* my DS would like some personal, in cabin, GameCube time.

Based on past discussion on this subject here in the forum, I'm under the impression that the TV's only have Cable inputs.

That's ok as long as I can pull it out. The converter I have will enable me to hook the gamecube into the cable connection.

The tv's are bolted inside the cabinet..... The connections would be in the back. Not sure you could get to them.

Not positive if the connector on the back has a lock on it either, some hotels have a special connector that you can not unhook it :-(

Tv is bolted to cabinet and also there is a lock, I am pretty sure on the cable connector. But trust me he wont have any time worry about playing Gamecube. I 15 and our 10 night flew by way too fast, couldnt imagine sitting in my room playing gamecube. I can do that at home

Does your DS have a Gameboy? They are much easier to pack and will come in handy when waiting in lines at the airport, sitting on the plane, waiting to board the ship, etc.

I think someone once said there are additional inputs on the TVs in Cat 3 and above becasue they also have movie players and maybe game console? in those cabins.

Please pardon my nosiness and flame away if you wish, but why would anyone want to bring a GameCube on vacation to begin with? Aren't kids spending too much time in front of those things anyway? Between a GameCube in the stateroom, all those computers in the Lab, an onboard arcade and a GameBoy for the times in between, when would a child not be brain-dead in front of a screen? It's a cruise with tons of things to do/learn and friends to make, I say ban the darn video games, even if it is only for a week.

OK, deep breath...Sorry for that rant, but kids today spend way too much time on video games. And then we wonder why we're raising a generation of unfit and barely literate kids.

I completely agree...there are gamecubes and playstations in the oceaneer lab as well as computers...when we went on a cruise last fall i bought my 11 year old a $10 arcade card, fully expecting him to go through at least one card per day. He finally used it on the last night we were there and won a cd! He was very busy all over the ship and was never in our cabin....he probably would not have eve slept there if we didn,t make him LOL! And he is the typoe that plays gamecube 24/7 when we are at home.

Plus, there are always movies in the theatre and very new releses that are not even out on vidie yet playing on the movie channels. I think you'd be better off just bringing a gameboy and not having to worry about the hookups!

In our case, we plan on bringing a portable DVD player. Since I'll have the player and movies with me, I'd like to be able to connect it to the TV (bigger screen) and watch some of my movies when I want to.

We were in a cat. 3 and I didn't see any place to plug in the game cube but it might of been their. Our daughter always travels with her gameboy--now it is the newest type that looks like a mini laptop. Sometimes she just wants a break from all of the activities on the ship and she plays that. It also comes in handy on the airline flights to and from the cruise. Kathy

This might come as a shock to some of you, but IT IS POSSIBLE TO GET BOARD ON A DISNEY CRUISE!

The days are NOT stuffed with activities that everyone is going to find appealing.

Yes, there are families who stay busy all the time of a Disney Cruise, but there are others who will find a cruise extreamly boring.

We fall somewhere in the middle. We have fun on-board, but there are times we like to just veg out in the cabin (hence part of the reason we like to pay extra for the deluxe rooms with a verandah).

So if someone else wants to bring a DVD player or Video Game on board with them, let them and just answer their questions. There's no reason to knock someone else's idea of a vacation because it doesn't fit with your own.

Both of the TVs in 8546 had RCA jacks on the front of the TV. We attached our portable DVD player & played Powerpuff Girls DVDs for our DS16mos.(flame away, but it put him to sleep!)

You could easily have attached a Gamecube to these plugs. However, this was a cat 3 room. We are in a Cat 6 cabin for our June cruise and I would also like this question answered. If you have accessible RCA plugs not only can you use a Gamecube or other video game, you can attach a video camera to view videos, or plug in a personal DVD player like we did before.

So - are there accessible RCA jacks on the TVs in category 4 & lower cabins? I know what the suites had 4 years ago but would like to know what my cabin will have this June.

The original poster asked about TV connections, not for approval on bringing video games. If you don't like your kids to play video games, either at home or on the cruise, keep it to yourself. I am so tired of people judging other people's parenting on this board!

Also, why do people assume that all kids are the same and enjoy the same activities. So your kids had a great time and didn't care about the arcade. I'm glad they had a good time, but that doesn't mean other kids won't. My DS 8 spent a good $30 at the arcade. He hated the games in the Lab. In fact, he only liked a few of the activities in the Lab. Does that mean there's something wrong with the Lab -- NO. It just means my child wasn't a fan of it.

To the original poster, 14 days is a long time and only you know what your child will enjoy. As far as bringing the Gamecube, I'd recommend a Gameboy instead. It's easier to pack, works anywhere (great to bring up on deck), and you won't have to worry about the TV connections. Enjoy your cruise!

"... you're in paradise... GO ENJOY IT!!!!!!!!!"That's what I think when people are writing about going shopping in the ports - I can do that at home. When I'm in port you'll usually find me in the water snorkeling or enjoying a beach day.

But on our repo cruise, if in the "lowly" cat 9 rooms you can hook up a game cube, we just might do it. 14 days and only 4 ports might make the kids want to spend some time with "activity".

And I would like to know, because I'm getting a digital camera for this trip and would like to be able to see the pic's on the tv to decide which picture to keep - it's easier to see on the TV and everyone can "vote" this way.

Wow this is getting ugly in a hurry.... I think I will post on one of the Live from the ***** threads & ask the OP if they can look at their TV & see if it has jacks in the front.. Course they will have to be in a "lowly Cat 4 or below" *hehehe
