Crazy people!

It's been pretty chilly here in Ohio this past week. My ds13 is still wearing shorts/t-shirts. He told me he didn't need pants because he was wearing them all winter. We'll see how he holds up when the snow flies.

I need some help here!! I can never understand these "weather" threads. I can understand that folks from the northern climes are more used to cold weather. But do you work outside?? Do you stay outside in the cold all day?? Do you spend several hours outside after dark?? There is a huge difference to me in being acclimated to the cold and actually staying out in it all day and night.

Well yeah. The only reason to live in the North is for snowmobiling (okay, some prefer sledding, skiing, or snowboarding). And night snowmobiling is the best - and since it's dark by 4:30, it's not terribly difficult to be out after dark.

I also hold onto flip flops as long as I can and as someone raised on a farm, I go barefoot outside at home unless snow is on the ground.

As for me, I can't find my maternity jacket so I'm hoping to make it to my due date without needing it but unless we have the mildest November in history it won't happen. Fingers crossed it stays above 30!

I do wear stocking hats though at around 45 - they look cute on me and save me from blow drying and straightening my hair on weekends.

This sounds very familiar. DS does break out the thin track pants and hoodie for the walk to and from the bus stop when it gets below freezing, but then changes back into shorts. He insists that he only needs one pair of pants for being outside and one pair for church. And of course a winter coat is not needed, even when we have temps below zero and -25 wind chill.

I love this! It definitely highlights the differences between different regions of the country. I live in a sub-tropical climate in South Louisiana and this past weekend the low was 45 and the high was 65 so that meant jackets, sweaters, jeans, boots and scarves for us!

HAHAHAHA! We were in NOLA this weekend, dressed in leggings, long sleeves, scarves, jackets, and UGGS.

I hope this isn't a sign of the winter to come..

I'm from NY, so 50-degree weather is still OKAY during our Christmas trip.. but I'd rather have temps in the 60s or 70s.

I think I'd still eat a Dole Whip, regardless of the weather!

I have no problem with 50-degree weather. I DO have a problem when it drops into the 40s at night. Not for me. Not in Florida.

We've been lucky to have great weather the past two years.

First) We owned a resort in No, Minnesota for several years, close to the Canadian border. Our Canadian guests would dress in shorts, tee's, bathing suites in the 60's. Our guests from Iowa, etc would have jackets, jeans. AND my sisterinlaw from Tennessee would wear jeans, sweater, coats , blanket!!! She froze the whole time it was below 70. She'd sit on the beach with all that gear watching the Canadians frolicking in the water:rotfl2:
Two) Last November, we were in wDW, magic kingdom, and we were in one of the stores looking at the merchandise. I had on t shirt and capri's. It was in the 60's. On the way out we passed a CM who had on a huge down coat, hat, and gloves, and she was shivering!!! She looked like the "tire guy". (forgot his name) We talked to her and she was really cold. Poor thing!
I guess it's all in your perspective.
We lived in the deep south for years before moving to Mn., and we went to wdw the first time in July. It was fine with us. Heat, humidity, no problem, we were used to it:thumbsup2 We were standing in line one day at noonish, and the very white, miserable people in front of us were from Mn. We suggested they get out of the midday heat if they weren't used to it!!!!
Anyway had to put my 2 cents into it! Today is 40's here, yeah, no snow yet:cool1:

OMG! It's in the 50's right now and there are people in shorts eating dole whips as though it was the middle of August!

Thursday of last week was the first time I wore long pants in months - and that's here in MO where mornings were in the 40's :cool1:

I had to laugh when I lived in South Florida for a year plus. I worked at a Starbucks and anytime it was in the 60's people would come in with a heavy coat and occasionally gloves.

We are exactly like that too! As far as I am concerned there are 2 seasons-flip flops season and boots season. I put away my flip flops and shorts when the snow comes. :thumbsup2

Love this! This Canadian family will be swimming at AoA come January. lol
