I now understand where people that name their kids crazy names get them. I was teaching science today and we were learning the names of all of the bones in the human skeleton. When we got to phalanges, one of the boys in my class said, "Phalanges, that's a cool name. I think when I have a kid, that's what I'm gonna name him." :rotfl2:

:rotfl: :lmao:

If it helps, my brother announced that he was going to name his kids "Starbopper" and "Boydoyousmell".

Thankfully my SIL is going to prevail on baby names.

:rotfl2:
There is a little girl (cute as can be!) at DS's school named Amazin' and he has a boy in his class named Aristotle. They're not Greek though..they are Latino. Ever since the beginning of the school year, I'd heard DS talk about "Aris' this and "Aris' that and I didn't really think nothing of it. Then I went to volunteer for Special Olympics day at his school and I heard his teacher say "Aristotle, please don't do that."
I said, "His name is Aristotle? Really?"
His teacher just said yes, but it was hardly the most unique name she'd heard in her years of teaching.

We have a child named Messiah in our school. There is a teacher who refused to have him in her class because she felt uncomfortable calling him that. :confused3

BTW, also in his 2nd grade classroom are children named Heaven and Christian - LOL!

After 20+ years of teaching, I could write a book on crazy names.

I worked at a Gov't job a few years ago where I look at the names of people who lived in a household (for benefits). I had some crazies!!

I had a little girl named "Female"--she pronounced it "Fuh'malee" and a "Placenta"--NO JOKE!!

I've seen a lot of crazy names over my years of teaching. I have to say that the worst was a student named Empress. It's not so much the name that is unusual but the fact that the student was male. I can imagine why they would give a boy that name.

I worked w/ a man named Precious:rolleyes: I have seen many females named that, but a guy--what were they thinking?

I might print this thread off for future use if my son ever decides to give me crap for something.

He could have gotten it much worse.

I had a female student last year named Chandler. I teach early American history and I have an activity that I do sometimes as a time filler where the students have to match occupations with their descriptions. Let's just say she was not too happy to find out that a chandler is another name for a candle maker.

My DH has a cousin named Nicolandreashandre.... thankfully she goes by Nicky

Going about my buisness at work I called a young lady to the back and used the name that was on the record. She was foreign, I couldn't read the last name and I was told after the fact that it was pronounced Va geena even though that is not how it was spelled. I was clearly embarassed.

One of my sister's best friends is a girl named Chandler.:thumbsup2

My husband has a friend named Algreatus pronounced Al-greet-s, everyone calls him Gator.

Ive worked in hospitals for years, and I am always amazed at what parents name their babies. I always giggle at the ones who are given the same first name as their last name. Like Jackson Jackson. Or twins who are given the same names....marc and marco. :confused3

HA HA --YEP! I like e-con-no-der-mata when I was in highschool - and thats not how you spell it & it may not be how you say it either - but that's what I remember from science..

I was watching a game show yest on GSN & there was a girl named Shannon spelled Cheynan...ugh
