On the bus ride from the Hilton to MK Monday we sat infront of a couple with a son around 3 or 4, well half way into the trip she starts to chat with her hubby or so I assume he was about their trip and future trips. She was being loud so I couldn't help but listen... she says to him, you know I don't know if we will come again, he says why and to that she replies well...

Disney is not a place for children under three or older than six, I could not possibly imagine our son having fun and enjoying the characters after age 6 and under three have no need to go anyhow they are to young...

At this point I am starting to crack up, as I'm 23 and LOVE Disney as does Dfiance, my sister who is 18 and parents, etc... and we had two very happy toddlers with us who loved seeing "mick- a mouse" as they call him.

She countinues to tell her companion that when DS turns six she thinks trips to the recyling plant would be better than Disney and that he would enjoy that more.

OMG I think, Dfiance says to goddaughter "Madison would you like to go see the recyling plant next year"... I couldn't hold back I started to laugh.

DS then asks her "mommy what does Magic Kingdom mean"... she replies that a kingdom is a bunch of lands that a man rules, and that it is ruled by Mickey Mouse... etc... ok not so funny until the DS says he doesn't understand and she says to him well if you had toliet kingdom, then who would rule that, etc... OMG!!

Just as I thought it couldn't get any better, she tells DS that she will not ride any rides with him and that she thinks he would have more fun looking at the sights and such and maybe he was too old to meet the characters...

I was just thinking the whole time, Why are you here then!! LMAO!

When we got off the bus I couldnt help but tell Dfiance' very loudly how our godchildren 2 and 3 were having such a blast and how much we all loved Disney and how could anyone not like Disney... etc. And then he said, "but honey I think next year we will visit the water treatment plant"....LOL! She gave us a dirty look.

Funny story...some people just don't get it, do they?

I feel for her family, she sounds pretty opinionated! But the less she likes WDW, the more likely she's not clogging up the lines and bringing bad energy!! I see it as a plus for us!

Maybe after their trip to the recycling plant they will realize the err of HER ways. Water treatment plant tours? Sounds stinky to me!

:teeth:

Thats funny. I just told my boyfriend (we're going in 3 weeks!!) and he laughed & said he hopes we see some cazy people like that when we're there...he wants to say something to them. I'm 27 and he's 31 and we are both very very very much over the age 6 and we're going with no kids!

I wonder what that woman would think of us!?:teeth:

 unreal...the things you hear on the buses.

My wife and I stayed at the Grand Floridian for our honeymoon and we sat in front of another honeymooning couple on the bus who obviously came from money. We saved for a year to stay there and the chick behind says "its ok...it not the ritz carlton or the four seasons......" Why go to Disney in the first place?????

Isn't it funny how clueless some people are? I just feel sorry for that poor little boy - he's got a whole life ahead of him with that!! :earseek:

She would probably be totally confused trying to figure out why 3 adult women (my mother, my sister and myself) chose WDW as the destination for the 'girls trip'!! :crazy2:

I was just at disney last week with my MIL and 2 1/2 year old. It was his first trip to disney. I have 3 older kids who have been lots of times and love it. I wanted to take a special trip with my baby this time ( shhhhh.....don't tell the older kids). Everyone kept asking me.........why are you taking a 2 year old to disney? He will never remember it?....etc..... Even my MIL.

Well let me tell you it was soooooo much fun! He absolutely loved it. It was soooo wonderful seeing his little face light up when he saw pooh and mickey mouse and spectro for the first time. He didn't complain one time and unlike the older kids he didn't even ask us to buy him anything....lol It was a very special time for us all. Even MIL was surprised at how good he was. Maybe he won't remember it when he gets older but I will always have special memories of the magical time that we had. And, we will always have our pictures to look at.

I've never understood the "won't remember it crowd." My best friend is like that, even though her kids are 4, 6, and 8, and still hasn't taken them. "I'm going to wait until they are older." Geez! How old do they have to be? They've got the money to go, and we're only a few hours away. Her kids beg to go all the time when my kids are coming back talking about how much fun they had.

No, I don't think a 2 year old will remember it either, but look how much fun they had!! I don't make my 2 year old sit at home all day simply because he won't remember when he's 16 what we did. I don't see why Disney is any different.

I know people who hate Disney, but love WDW. So the child wold probabley like the park, even if he does out grow Mickey Mouse.

EsmeraldaX, sorry this is off topic for the post, but does moty happen to be an italian greyhound????
:hyper:

oh and by the way im 27 and i seem to be the only disney freak in my family. the rest of them just dont seem to get it. im taking my brother (12) in october and cant wait.......

I feel sorry for that poor child. He must have so much fun at home when he isn't on vacation  Nothing like the exciting world of recycling plants. :earseek:

that "won't remember it" part scares me, because I always think - "gee, doesn't the kid deserve to be happy even if he won't remember it?"

Schmeck, who has never told her children "you can't have any fun until you can remember it!"

I was one of those "won't remember it" people.

I waited until my youngest was 7 to go to WDW. I think a lot of it was just not really realizing all that WDW had to offer. Of course, now I wish we had taken the kids earlier, and I love watching the little ones in the park.

I do have to say, though, that going for the very first time with a 7 year old was absolutely magical.

As for the lady on the bus, I wonder where she spent her honeymoon......IBM perhaps?

RE: Happy Bus woman-Yikes! Just doesn't WANT to get it.
Water treatment plant-is that a new Disney water park?

RE: "Never remember it" concept- We have gone to WDW almost every year since DS, now 9, was 2 months old. (My brother gave us a few days in his DVC resort as a Christmas gift that time). Eventually the kids start to remember, but when they are there at the age of 2 and 3, they do not need to remember. They know at that time they are having a great time w/ their family.

They may not remember all of the trips to WDW-but DH and I do.

I was 3 the first time I went to Disney. We then waited until my sister was 3 before we went again. My parents never did the "they'll never remember it" thing. Instead my dad wanted to wait until we were old enough to go without stollers. And we walked, everywhere we went. Needless to say, we were the kiddos falling asleep as we walked. I've never understood either of those umm philosophies.
I pity that kid whose mother has no ummm common sense when it comes to Disney. I've gone several times, and it has never mattered whether I was 7 or the last time when I was 15, Disney is awesome at any age.

Yikes!

I will always remember the absolutely radiant joy on my sons' faces as we walked into MK for the first time when they were 3.5 and 1.5 years old. I think that magical trip will be one of my most precious memories for as long as I live!

Let's hope the mom saw the joy on her son's face at MK and was "converted" before she sucked all the fun out of it for him.

Some people should not be allowed to reproduce and this lady sounds like one of those people. How can anyone be so wierd like that? I feel bad for the kid with a parent like that-he'll probably be in boarding school by his seventh birthday-god forbid that woman should ever have to deal with anything childish like oh, school, soccer practice, or anything fun! It is amazing to me the stupidity some people are gifted with!

Hi! No, he's a Jack Russell Terrier. I LOVE Italian Greyhounds too. They are so cute and sweet and regal looking (unlike my Monty who has about as much "grace" as a spazzed out ferret)

I am the only Disney Freak in my family too. The kids in my family just aren't into it ...my nieces go and have fun but they just don't get excited the way I do. My mom loves it but has a hard time getting around and doesn't like the motorized things. I don't even know any other Disney freaks, except for on here. Going in 19 days with my boyfriend....he hasn't been since he was 10 and Epcot was not even up yet! Lets hope I can convert him!!
